December 2012 Topbox

I really should just come out and say it. I was really not a happy camper when it came to my December Topbox…the quality of the Topboxes has gone down since the waitlist was massively shortened back in October. Those of us who have been subbed for awhile or who have been following what Topbox has given in their boxes in the past will notice this as well. With the $2 increase per month, these smaller sample sizes are not what I have come to expect from Topbox…maybe it is I that needs to adjust my expectations?

Balenciaga Paris Eau de ParfumDSCF4253

A demure violet with airy blossom and delicate peppery notes.

Thoughts: This definitely smells better to me than the last Balenciaga fragrance I received in another Topbox. It’s still not quite my scent, but I will still give it a try and see how it wears on me throughout the day.

Full size: 50mL/$110 or 75mL/$150

I received: 4mL/$8.00 (using second value)

Ferro Cosmetics Radiance Illuminating Mineral FoundationDSCF4254

A brand founded by Celebrity makeup artist, Krissy Ferro, that makes 100% natural mineral makeup and is cruelty-free.

Thoughts: I have received an eye shadow from Ferro Cosmetics before, so being able to try another product from this company is great. The colour was actually a pretty good match for my skin and I do prefer mineral foundation so this product is something I will gladly try.

Full size: 12g/$24.00

I received: 2g/$4.00

Goldwell Jelly BoostDSCF4255

Easy to use spray gel for creating instant body and texture for short or long hair styles.

Thoughts: Very interesting sounding product! I have been wanting a product to give my hair more volume so this might be it! Fingers crossed!

Full size: 150mL/$18.95

I received: 30mL/$3.79

Pangea Organics Nigerian Ginger, Sweet Lavender and Thyme Facial CreamDSCF4257

Spicy and sweet, this organic facial cream creates a balance yet leaves a slightly matte finish to the skin.

Thoughts:  I was most annoyed with these little sample packets because I do not consider these to be a deluxe item. Yes, there are two of them, but there is 2ml of product in each. That’s not a lot for trying out a face cream. As for the actual product itself, I am very excited to try something from the Pangea Organics line! This will be my first!

Full size: 60mL/$38.00

I received: 4mL/$2.53

Total Value of Topbox: $18.32

So, as you can see December’s box was a bit of a letdown for me and maybe with it being Christmas, I had thought that there would be more of a holiday theme to it. Other than the box being red, nothing special was done. Not even a “Merry Christmas” on the product card…Luxe Box, Glossybox and BB5 did something special so I would have expected Topbox to match the other beauty boxes. Well, this isn’t going to deter me from Topbox. I will stick with them because they have been amazing for the most part so we’ll see what 2013 brings!

  2. Yeah, this month was pretty disappointing and I was mostly disappointed that there was no special holiday note or anything. I am very excited for the Prive box next month though and I hope it's an improvement!

    1. I know, it would have been nice for a card to say "Thank you for being a Topbox member, Happy Holidays!" I am excited for the Prive Box too, I wonder what it will all be about.

    1. I felt so badly saying it too! I never have to say it, but we're supposed to be honest right?

  4. Yup this month's box was a let down. And no we shouldn't have to lower our expectations. Not after raising the price! I liked my perfume and Ferro sample but... I too thought there would be more this month... Hopefully the Prive box next month will be awesome.

  5. I agree and noted the same thing about the lack of Christmas/holiday recognition. I actually liked the perfume samples I've been getting from them but I have SO many samples it's getting overwhelming. The Ferro sample I loved so much I actually ordered a full size which I'm pretty sure is a first for me!
