November 2012 Empties!

With November favourites come November empties, so let’s get this empties party started shall we?! I wasn’t too good about the full sized products, but I did get through my samples which always gives me a nice boost of “you can do it!”

Bath and Body

1. The Body Shop Almond Hand and Nail Cream (30mL)

I had this by my desk, but I realized it was just a little bit too greasy for keyboard use, so instead I started using it just before going to bed. The scent was not my favourite as I found it a little bit strong, but it definitely hydrated my hands. Repurchase? No

2. Ahava Mineral Body Lotion (40mL)

I just talked about this in my favourites and was VERY easy to use all the time until my little deluxe sample was all empty. I guess it’s a good thing I already bought the full size because I was a very sad girl when this tube was empty! Repurchase? Yes

3. Sugarfoot & Company Oatmeal Cookie Body Lotion (25mL)

I believe I received this in a past Divalicious Box and it didn’t strike me as anything particularly special. What actually really bothered me about this sample is that the bottle was a hard plastic so I couldn’t squeeze any of the lotion out! I had to shake really hard! Purchase? No

4. Biotherm Lait Corporel Anti-Drying Body Milk (10mL)

I received this as a sample during a Shoppers event and I did not expect to like it at all! It smells faintly like oranges hydrated my skin without being too thick. It was very much like a milk and had a scent that I loved! Purchase? Yes

5. Lush Sexy Peel Soap

A soap with Lemon, Lime and Grapefruit? A citrus lover’s delight! This smells just as good as you would imagine! Repurchase? Yes

6. Lush North Pole Soap

In addition to citrus scents, my other favourite scent is peppermint which is exactly what this is! A limited edition for Christmas, North Pole comes in both white and pink with a scent inspired by peppermint bark. This almost disappeared too quickly… Repurchase? Yes

7. L’Occitane Shea Butter Ultra Rich Cream (8mL)

Although the sample was on the tiny side, I loved all 8mL of it! I’ve always liked anything from the Shea Butter line and this was no exception. Purchase? Yes

8. Wine Delights Beer Bath Salts

I don’t use bath salts very often, but these weren’t bad. They did smell like beer amazingly enough, but I prefer my baths smelling like fruit or lavender. Purchase? No

9. skoah Skrubbin’ Face Wash (240mL)

I have been using this every other day since November of 2011 so a little really does go a long way! It was also part of my very first favourites post! You can read my thoughts in it in the link, but this is a staple for me, so I have already purchased a new bottle. Repurchase? Yes

10. Mark Kay Intense Moisturizing Cream (12g)

I did not like this at all! I found it so greasy for my face that I ended up using it on my body instead because I knew that I could never use this on my face again! Purchase? No!

11. Bliss Fabulous Foaming Face Wash (60mL)

This was a favourite of mine back in March and as I mentioned I liked it more for the smell. It was also quite gentle and was a face wash that I alternated with skoah Skrubbin’ Face Wash. I have a lot of other face washes to go through so I don’t think I have the space to try this again so Repurchase? Probably not

12. Vitamin & Sea Perfect Skin Solution (2mL)

I received this in June’s Glymm Bag and once I got past the epic smell of every type of oil in existence (sweet almond oil, apricot kernel oil, olive oil, hazelnut oil, borage seed oil, jojoba oil, avocado oil, carrot seed essential oil…etc) this was quite lovely! I only needed a tiny amount to cover my entire face and it left my face feeling soft and supple. Repurchase? Maybe…so much other moisturizer to go through.

13. Etude House Black Charcoal Chin Pack (1 piece)

I received this as a sample with my Cosmetic Love order a few months back and it was nothing special as I didn’t notice any significant difference in my “chin skin” afterwards. As always, it’s fun to peel this stuff off though! Purchase? No

14. Biore Deep Cleansing Nose Strip (1 piece)

I received this in my June Glossybox and as with the Etude House chin strip, I didn’t notice a huge difference, but took great joy in peeling the strip off my nose! Purchase? No

15. L’Occitane Ultra Rich Face Scrub (5mL)

I loved this and bought the full size during a L’Occitane VIP event last month. I loved the creaminess of the scrub and how fine the granules were. It smells rich, creamy and luxurious and I will relish every use of it. Purchase? Yes

16. Befine Warming Clay Mask (14g)

I received this in my August Glossybox and other than the warming effects, didn’t really like this mask. Firstly, I found it hard to get the stuff out of the packet and I didn’t notice any visible changes in my skin after use. Purchase? No

17. The Body Shop Nutriganics Smoothing Serum (1.5mL x 2 packets)

Surprisingly, I enjoyed this product! The consistency was light, smelled pleasant and worked wonderfully underneath my night cream. Purchase? Yes

18. L’Occitane Precious Serum (1mL)

This was very similar to the Body Shop Nutriganics Smoothing Serum so if I had to choose I’d go for the Body Shop one since it’s not quite so pricey! Purchase? Probably not.

19. Korres Evening Primrose Eye Cream (5mL)

Isn’t it crazy how long eye cream lasts?! This was supposed to banish dark circles and fine lines, but alas I didn’t notice too much of a difference or maybe things could have been worse without this cream! I have yet to really find an eye cream that “works”, but then again I don’t really know what to look for in an eye cream other than moisturizing properties. Purchase? No.

20. Lise Watier Deep Remodelling Night Creme (5mL)

Another pleasant product with a consistency and scent I liked that also hydrated my skin until morning. Purchase? Yes

21. Lise Watier Ultra Firming Rejeuvenating Day Creme (2mL and 5mL)

Complemented the night creme very nicely and I would definitely purchase the duo once I finally finish my stash! Purchase? Yes

Makeup/Perfume

22. Givenchy Dahlia Noir Sample

I got this in my swap with Tarah and I didn’t think I’d like it, but I LOVE it! It’s something I would totally wear! Purchase? Yes

23. Hugo Boss “I don’t remember the scent” Sample

I got this in the summer and obviously it wasn’t memorable enough for me to love so I will pass on this for now. Purchase? No

24. CK Shock (1.2mL)

I feel like I have a scent like this in my fragrance arsenal already and as much as I did enjoy it, I still have a rollerball of this from a past Luxe Box that I’ll probably have for awhile. Purchase? Not right now…

25. Aquafina Lip Balm in Wild Berry (2g)

I get these lip balms in a pack of 4 from Wal-Mart in all different flavours and they are some of my favourite basic lip balms to have in the house. I’ve gone through two this year and they are just smooth and kind of “icy” feeling on the lips. Repurchase? Yes

26. Lise Watier 24 Hrs Glam Mascara (5mL)

I didn’t really like this mascara as it didn’t do a whole lot to enhance my non-existent lashes. It lasted 24 hours for sure, but it didn’t give me length or volume and made my lashes look dry. Purchase? No

Hair

28. Mane Teeze Social Butterfly Hair Perfume (8mL)

I received this in my July Glymm Bag and I was actually quite surprised at how many uses I was able to get out of this sample as well as how long the scent lasted in my hair! My hair stayed perfumed for the entire work day! It was quite subtle too as I asked my co-workers and I was the only one who could really smell it. It’s an expensive product for what it is though so I don’t see myself purchasing the full size. Purchase? No

29. Aveda Invati Exfoliating Shampoo (10mL)

I received this in October’s Topbox and I really didn’t like anything about it. I hated the runny consistency, the herbal smell and it did nothing for my hair. I feel like it made my hair worse in terms of texture. I am just grateful that there was only 10mL of this stuff to go through! Purchase? No

30. Aveda Invati Thickening Conditioner (10mL)

Exact same comments as above and you would think that a conditioner would make your hair somewhat softer, but once I was out of the shower, my hair did not feel soft at all. Purchase? No

And there you have it! Another month of empties! Is it just me, or do some of you find the empties posts more satisfying to read than the monthly favourites?!

  4. I love these empties posts! You always have so many. I've never tried L'Occtaine or the body shop face products, but the products you tried make me think I'm going to swoon over them.

For an I greasy hand cream, my favorite is the Kiehls Ultimate Hand Salve. :)

    1. I totally get why their hand cremes are their best sellers. It's a good size, hydrates and they're non-greasy.

  10. That's a lot of empties!!! Good for you, a couple of months ago I decided to stop hoarding stuff (especially skin and hair care) and try and use up everything I have. I'm doing really good and it feels quite rewarding when I finish something and think 'yeah, this was a great purchase'... not so much when it's 'why on Earth did I buy this?' LOL
A friend sent me the Daiso Charcoal peel off mask and that one really works!!!
