Ah, mascaras. There are so many of you and yet I can never find the right one. My last MAKE UP FOR EVER mascara review was for the Smoky Extravagant (here) which had a rather large conical brush and gave rather dramatic results. Today is all about its descendant Smoky Stretch* ($28.00 CDN) which is all about length, intense black colour and a formula that is just smooooth. Formulated with Locust Tree Alginate Jelly(algin) and silk protein (sericin), this newest mascara formulation promises to define and elongate even the finest of lashes.
Finally, a brush I am not afraid of! I have always said that first mascara wands were getting bigger and bigger and now we’re going back to less is more again. This wand is very flexible and lightweight. I love that I don’t have any blindspots when I am wiggling the brush through my lashes and the little spikes don’t scare me.
You can see that in the “before” photo, you couldn’t really tell that I even had lashes. It is only in the “after” photo that you can see the definition and length in my lashes. Formula was also very smooth and didn’t look clumpy even after 2 coats.
Final Verdict: The other thing that I want in a mascara is fuller-looking lashes which Smoky Stretch did not provide nor did it promise to do so. I have heard that people often will combine mascaras for their different purposes and that is what I believe I will need to do here. I cannot argue about the definition and length this mascara gave to my lashes so definite A+ there. My lashes also appear more black and even the tiniest of my lashes seem to make themselves known on my eye which is pretty amazing. Despite not having the fullness factor, I cannot deny what Smoky Stretch was able to do. If you’ve got the right lash quantity and just need that definition this is an awesome mascara.
