MAKEUP | Dior Addict Fluid Stick in #289 Versatile, #499 Avant-Garde and #784 Chic Review with Swatches

My first foray into the Dior Addict line was with the Ultra Glosses because you can't really mess up a lip gloss. However, the Fluid Sticks required a bit more manual dexterity and have a consistency that can take some getting used to. The colour payoff is stunning though for a lip colour that feels just like applying water on the lips and is probably one of the most memorable Dior products for me.

#289 Versatile*, #499 Avant-Garde* and #784 Chic* ($42.00 CDN each), released last year are permanent additions to the already substantial Dior Addict Fluid Stick family and are surprisingly wearable shades for all skin tones. It is unique in the sense that it has a shiny, glossy finish with the pigmentation of a lipstick. I know that this is a description for many similar products, but the Fluid Sticks have one of my favourite formulations.

The packaging is super chic and when I first saw these, I knew I was going to own at least one of these fierce looking bullets of colour.

The swatches look sheer, but the buildability is ridiculous! At first use, you think it's just going to be some sort of stain because it feels cold and liquid-like on the lips, but once it dries (in seconds), you really can build up the colour to where you feel comfortable. The formulation almost feels like a sealant once on the lips so you know the colour will not budge!

The teardrop-shaped wand really helps with accuracy around the edges of the lips and for someone like myself with an extremely prominent cupid's bow, I need all the accuracy I can get!

As you can tell, I took my face photos way back when I was still blonde (I miss you blonde!), but you get the idea!

Final verdict: The glossy finish does fade over the hours, but the colour does not. When I need a little glossy top-up, I just dab a little colour in the middle of lips and instantly, my lips look refreshed! Though the texture can take a little bit of getting used to and isn't what I would consider an "easy-going" lip product, the performance and shine are not to be argued with!

Available now at Sephora and all Dior counters.
