SKINCARE | #CBBGetsSheetFaced Week 1 Round Up with Selfies!

This month, the CBB has decided to do 28 days of straight sheet masks with themes for each week and it seemed fitting to do a little round-up of all the masks I used for last week's theme of "print/animal" week. After doing 100 straight days of sheet masks, this seemed easy-peasy, but I love that I have my CBB friends Renee (See the World in Pink) and Chantal (Chantal's Corner) also joining me in this challenge so make sure to check out our stories on Instagram to see what we've all got on our faces every night this month!

#CBBGetsSheetFaced Week 1

All purchased by me except one sheet mask as indicated.

Day 1: With my focus on pig products in honor of the Year of the Pig, Day 1 was the Holika Holika Pig Collagen Jelly Gel Mask Sheet which was a two piece hydrogel mask promising firm and smooth skin. This was probably one of the thinnest hydrogel masks I have tried and because of that adhered well to my skin with only the chin being a little short. Like all sheet masks, my skin was hydrated upon removal and also felt soothed and cooled from the hydrogel material. The only thing that is stopping me from buying this mask again is the fact that this mask is not free of dimethicone though it is all the way at the end of the ingredients list. Other than that, it was a solid hydrogel mask!

Day 2: Consisted of two masks which I probably should have coordinated better as my nose got some EXTRA TLC! The first mask was the My Scheming Pig Pore Cleansing 3-Step Pack which was a very cool way to remove blackheads on the nose with the first step being a gentle lactic acid sheet mask just on the nose for about 10-15 minutes followed by the adhesive strip that we are all familiar with. The fun part about this was that it actually had the PRINT of a pig snout! The third step was a soothing sheet mask with an essence to calm the redness and close up the pores. I had just had a facial the day before so I didn't get out a ton of satisfying blackheads, but I found the steps of this mask very amusing and fun!

You have seen me use these Face Shop Kakao Character Masks throughout the last couple of months and I actually don't enjoy them very much. I was planning on reviewing them back when the collection was in Canada, but due to some copyright issues, the collection was pulled two weeks after I picked up the masks. This Resilience Character Mask (Neo) contains blueberry extract and adenosine which work to bring back life into the skin. The ingredient list was actually quite good so my issue isn't really with that, it's actually with the fit and fragrance. The printed masks are just very thick because the print is so clear and because of that crease quite a bit on me. The fragrance is one that I find a bit strong, but it could also be that it's the same fragrance with all of their printed sheet masks.

The finish is also quite tacky upon removal so give yourself some time to let the essence sink in. It IS an effective mask, but with sheet masks, the journey sometimes is just as important as the results!

Day 3: Ah, the SNP Animal Dragon Soothing Mask! In terms of printed masks, the SNP ones are among the best I have seen and when I saw the dragon one at London Drugs a few weeks back I absolutely had to have it! Other than transforming into a dragon, this mask actually DOES have a purpose and aims to soothe fatigued skin and of course restore moisture with coconut fruit juice and coconut water. The scent is similar to The Face Shop Character mask from before, but nowhere nearly as overpowering so I barely noticed anything.

A lot of the time, intensely printed masks can be very ill-fitting and/or have a thick material that doesn't fold over facial contours very well, but even though I had a few extra bits and bobs around my chin (I always seem to) I really liked the overall fit AND the design. I mean, even my husband thought I looked CUTE. Like this! I have obviously conditioned him now.

Day 4: The Holika Holika Baby Pet Magic Anti-Wrinkle Pug Mask Sheet* is one that I received from Beauteque, a monthly KBeauty subscription company that I have been working with over the past couple of months. They have both a sheet mask and product subscription and every time it comes, as much I as I enjoy Kbeauty makeup and skincare, there is something about those sheet masks that just tugs at my heartstrings. This sheet mask contains niacinamide (3rd ingredient) as well as hydrolyzed collagen (5th ingredient) which support this mask's aim of firming up the skin.

Chantal from Chantal's Corner also tried out this mask and if you didn't tell me this was supposed to be a pug, I wouldn't have known either. Hubby asked if I was Hitler and I said "No, babe I don't think a Hitler sheet mask would do very well." Though the print was quite definitive, the fit was a little off for me around the chin. Hydration was pretty good for this mask and I just added on a light moisturizer to seal everything in.

Day 5: When it comes to printed masks, the Design Face Pack series from Japan reigns supreme as they have somehow gotten rights to some very popular characters! You last saw this brand when I wore Captain America and Iron Man Sheet Masks (here) and I said I hated how sticky and thick the essence was, but LOVED how fun the masks were. Nothing has changed and the essence is still VERY hydrating to the point where I need to tissue off excess product even HOURS after the mask has been removed.

Design Face Pack Doraemon Sheet Mask

I picked up both the Doraemon and Dorami Sheet Masks from ebay for about $15 each and I am glad I did because my goodness this was a cute mask! It didn't fit perfectly with the forehead being a bit short and the chin being a little exposed, but the whole point was to let the bell "hang free" so from that perspective I would say it was perfect!

Day 6: This mask made me LAUGH which I guess made sense since this was the SNP Joy Firming Emotion Mask! I picked this bad boy up in Montreal's Chinatown and just thought the combination of the CGI girl on the front with the kabuki style mask was too funny. The fun ingredients in this mask were hydrolyzed collagen, gold and blueberry extract all of which were in the beginning of the ingredients list. It also smelled very refreshing and reminded me of fresh laundry!

Day 7: This Face Shop Character mask was fairly similar in fit to the above Resilience mask, but a little less tacky. I found it hydrating, but thought the print was quite scary like most of the printed masks I have tried in this Kakao Friends series. I think I have one more to use before I am finally done with these and while I am grateful for the memories and fun photo ops I have taken with these masks, I would not buy them again even if they were suddenly made available.

This is supposed to be a dog, but the comments being left on my Instagram Stories were that I looked like Hannibal Lecter. I have to agree.

And there you have it! Week 1 DONE! My favourite mask would have to be the SNP Dragon Mask and though I only purchased one for this challenge, I am tempted to get a few more just for fun! Stay tuned for this upcoming week as it is #FoodWeek!
