Of the new shades, five are the Matte Revolution formula of the original Hot Lips collection and the other five are the creamier finish of the K.I.S.S.I.N.G formula. The 11th shade isn't really a lipstick, but a clear balm, but all come in beautifully packaged lipstick cases with the only one I am missing being the rose gold leopard print. They are each a pretty penny at $43 a pop with the case, but the refill is just $29 which seems fairly reasonable.
In terms of the actual shades, even the "bright reds" were very wearable. They all looked so flattering, which I found amazing, and though the Matte Revolution formula does need a boost of lip hydration after a couple of hours, I've always loved the satin finish and the colour payoff.
Viva La Vergara* (Matte Revolution Formula)
Though this is the most "dramatic" of the shades I received, this wine-coloured hommage to Modern Family's Sofia Vergara is what I would consider a fancy neutral. You definitely know that I am wearing lipstick, but I am also not trying to be the center of the show.
Dancefloor Princess* (K.I.S.S.I.N.G Formula)
This hommage to Australian dance queen Kylie Minogue (who STILL can't stop listening to "Can't Get You Outta My Head"?) shows up as a pale nude on me, but is the perfect lip colour for when you have a crazy smoky eye going and any other lip shade is going to be overboard. For the summer, this has been the shade I have been wearing the most.
Carina's Star* (Matte Revolution Formula)
I am not a huge fan of coral lip shades, but this has juuuust enough red in it to make me love it. It's also in honour of Chinese actress Carina Lau so seeing as how she is Asian, I figured it would have to be flattering on most Asian skin tones. This is actually Carina's second Charlotte Tilbury lipstick as she has a lipstick from the original Hot Lips launch in a blue-toned red called Carina's Love which I bought as a CNY treat to myself two years ago.
Patsy Red* (Matte Revolution Formula)
So, this is probably of the brightest shades in the group, but believe it or not there can be neutral red lipsticks and this is one of them! Named after Charlotte's mom Patsy Tilbury, this is a statement red that means business! I would feel totally comfortable wearing this to a meeting with a blazer and I felt like my skin and teeth looked brighter once I had this shade on.
Enigmatic Edward* (Clear Lip Conditioner)
A swatch didn't really feel necessary for this as it truly does come out clear, but this is a vegan formula that uses shea butter and synthetic beeswax to leave lips feeling conditioned and protected from the world for hours. I didn't have high hopes for something like this, but it did work surprisingly well on its own as well as underneath the Matte Revolution formulas to keep my lips feeling comfortable for a longer period of time.
Final verdict: Like I said, these lipsticks are a pretty penny, but I love everything from the shape of the bullet (perfect for someone with a defined cupid's bow like myself) and the of course the colours. The formulas are solid too and when it comes to this brand, they have done a great job of maintaining the beauty trifecta of: hype, packaging and formulation and I happily fall for it all!
