MAKEUP | Rimmel Oh My Gloss! Plump Review and Swatches

Thanks to some well-timed days off, I feel like I have been able to reset and get back some motivation to blog a bit more regularly. Yes, we are only just past the middle of January, but I am still giving myself some credit for having some posts prepared and actually doing my makeup! I've realized that I no longer like doing a full face of makeup on my days off because IF I need to wear a mask or go out at all, I just hate getting my lipgloss/lipstick all mucked up. I also don't like getting my masks dirty and now with my opting to wear N95s that seem so hard to come by, I want to conserve and reuse them as much as I can. I guess there is nothing wrong with using a mask with some makeup on the inside, but I just feel *blergh* about it now especially because I'm in one for 8-9 hours. For this reason, I have been accepting much less in the way of makeup press samples or prioritizing posting about them because lipsticks and lipgloss are not a big part of my life anymore (and my wallet seems happy!). However, I got bitten by the "makeup play bug" over the NYE weekend and wanted to try ALL of the new Rimmel Oh My Gloss! Plump Lipglosses! It has been awhile since my lips have felt the tingle of a plumping gloss so I got all dolled up and tried on each of these pretties!

Press samples

With 12 shades in total, these lipglosses promise a high gloss, smooth shine and are infused with a plumping trio complex of cinnamon oil, camphor and capsicum. These glosses are pigmented enough to go over bare lips or on top of lipstick to add some intense shine.

Rimmel Oh My Gloss! Plump Lipgloss Review

As this is a plumping gloss, there is a tingle so if you don't like that feeling, these are not the glosses for you. Personally, I didn't see much of a volume difference in my lips so I don't think the tingle is as intense as it could be like with other brands. With some brands I have tried, my lips look like they have had Botox or I get that redness around the edges of my lips. Maybe I'm just having a reaction which is what happened years ago when I tried another drugstore plumping gloss. I had BIG lips for DAYS which I don't think was normal!

Rimmel Oh My Gloss! Plump Lipgloss Review

There is a cinnamon-like spicy scent to the formula which I didn't mind and forgot about once I applied the product to my lips. While the formula is indeed very shiny and smooth-looking, it is on the sticky side especially as the time goes on. At home, the cat fur was just gravitating to my face! On the plus side, I felt like the colour lasted because of this even if it was a bit annoying.

Bronze Suga*
Rimmel Oh My Gloss! Plump Lipgloss Review

I expected Bronze Suga to be much more pigmented than it was making it relatively more casual to wear that I thought it would be. It has a bit of glitter in it and would actually be quite pretty layered on top of a burnt sienna/ dark orange lipstick.

Saucy*

As terrifying as it was in the tube, Saucy is so pretty once it's on! So juicy and sultry looking! One day when I can wear this out, it will be stunning!

Rosie Posie*
Rimmel Oh My Gloss! Plump Lipgloss Review

Rosie Posie is an easy one to love. It's a great neutral with a hint of barely perceptible sparkle and in pre-pandemic times, is a shade I would have reached for on the daily.

Spiced Nude*

Spiced Nude is just a more adventurous version of Rosie Posie and is another shade I would have easily reached for daily for work or just being out and about. It's a little bit darker, more Fall vibes, but still a great shade to wear with any makeup look.

Peach Pie*
Rimmel Oh My Gloss! Plump Lipgloss Review

Peach Pie was probably my least favourite shade on me as I don't find it all that flattering on my skin tone. It looks decent enough in photos and in person, but out of the group this shade felt the worst on me.

Angel Shimmer*
Rimmel Oh My Gloss! Plump Lipgloss Review

Angel Shimmer is the best layering shade for sure as it's essentially clear with glitter. If you have pigmented lips, this would be a fantastic colour for you! Even though I have somewhat pale lips, I quite liked how this looked on my bare lips.

Final verdict: While this wasn't a mind-blowing product, it is still a perfectly pleasant drugstore lipgloss. While I found the scent to be totally fine, I have read reviews of people who absolutely despise it so just keep in mind that you should be a fan of cinnamon before picking one of these lipglosses up for yourself. Other than that, I found the shades I was sent to be very pretty, wearable with most makeup looks and perfectly glossy!

You can find the Rimmel Oh My Gloss! Plump Lipglosses at all mass drugstores.
