SHEET MASK | Ultru I'm Sorry For My Skin Jelly Revitalizing Mask

How is it that we are now on the last #SheetMaskSunday of January?! I mean, seriously? Then again, I am truly looking forward to next month for a few reasons, one of which is blog-related and the other because I will be taking a week of staycation! I plan on getting tons of beauty stuff done as well as finally planning the living room! In terms of what I am looking forward to blog-wise, February 1st is Lunar New Year which means that I will be doing #LunarFebruary again! This is when I feature mainly Asian brands and what is amazing is that this year I feel like there are more Asian-owned brands that have cropped up in the last few years that are new to me which I hope to share next month!

The majority of the sheet masking world is dominated by Asian brands so it won't be difficult to keep up the #LunarFeburary theme in this area and one of the brands I will be continuing to feature next month is Ultru! I was introduced to Ultru via my FaceTory subscription (I miss it so much, but I have to make more of a dent in my sheet masks before I start it again!) and find their packaging and masks generally quite interesting and effective.

At first I thought there would be hops or something beer-related in the ingredients list and I guess to some degree there is like I have seen grapefruit in beer so sure, but I think the beer on the front of the package refers to "stress relief' of the skin and kicking back and relaxing. Interestingly enough, there is a Japanese raisinntree extract called Hovenia dulcis fruit extract which in traditional Asian medicine has been found to treat symptoms of hangovers quite well!

Other refreshing and soothing ingredients in the mask include, willow bark extract, peppermint extract, evening primrose and Arnica Montana Flower extract.

Jelly masks are INTENSE when it comes to essence consistency and this one was no exception! Lots of essence so this is a mask where a lot of that essence might be stuck to the inside of the packaging so I would advise scooping it out, applying to the skin and THEN putting the sheet mask on.

Mask Summary:

Price: $4.99 USD

Skin concerns: Hydration, stressed skin, revitalization

Scent: A little bit like beer!

Essence Type: Almost like clear jam! VERY jelly-like!

Duration: 20-30 minutes

Thickness: Medium, but the thick essence allowed the mask to sit well on the skin.

Mask Fit: See notes above. The mask held on well!

Tackiness: Light and takes a couple of hours to absorb into skin.

Hydration: Pretty good!

Other notes: N/A

Final verdict: I liked this! So far, I have enjoyed all of the Ultru masks I have tried and the only thing I try to keep in mind with the jelly masks is that they take a solid couple of hours to absorb so this isn't the kind of mask I would use if I wanted to sleep soon or getting ready in the mornings. The texture of the jelly is fun and hydration with jelly masks is very effective especially if you have been out in the sun all day. I have more Ultru mask reviews coming with the next one being a little "peely"!
