NAILS | Hermes Vert Ecossais with 18K Gold Leaf #CBBxManiMonday

It has been a long time since I have purchased something bougie and ridiculous and last week when I went shopping with my friend Gerry, that's what happened and it felt REALLY good. The last two years have been about small pleasures and finding joy in things that didn't necessarily cost money or at least not as much money. I was a big spender for most of my working life and though I never went too crazy, I definitely didn't need to buy as much as I did. Even now, there are still a few things I should curb, but luckily I had planned for our little shopping trip and the grand total of my spenditure amounted to about $300 which compared to previous years (ahem $3000...but this included a Celine bag!) which felt nice to do, but not overkill. You can see from the title what one of my splurges was!

I have been so curious and yet almost annoyed with myself for wanting to try the Hermes makeup line. I'm not into the whole Kelly, Birkin game (though I find it utterly fascinating being in the luxury business myself), but when I saw that Hermes had come out with a new foundation (review soon!) and nail polish, I said to myself that I was going to let myself at least buy ONE polish and here she is! This is the creamy Vert Ecossais or Scottish Green in English and it's a beauty isn't it?

Firstly, this packaging is everything you would hope a $63 bottle of polish would be! The cap is emblazoned with the Hermes logo and it's actually weighted beautifully. It's got a bit of heft in the cap and feels really nice to paint with. Like holding a well-weighted pen! The cap also has brushed hardware which really makes it feel like I SHOULD get a bag to match LOL!

The colour itself could have been opaque in one coat and the brush was nice and wide. I know it's ridiculous to pay this much for a bottle of polish, but as a collector I *might* spoil myself with one more bottle at the next Holt Renfrew promotion (that's where I picked this up)! I sort of want the classic Hermes orange just because! It's even called "Orange Boite" or Orange Box which is perfect!

While I was trying to choose a colour, Gerry suggested that I go with green to put gold nail art on top and that is EXACTLY what I did! I found my sheets of 18K gold leaf and delicately and painstakingly tore and applied bits of gold leaf to each nail and I LOVE how it turned out! I had so many comments at work today!

Happy Monday everyone and be sure to check out Renee and Trysh's blogs for their green-themed manicures this week!
