NAILS | Polka Dot Pink #CBBxManiMonday

Polka Dot Pink Nail Art
Purchased by me

It is now evident that I have a cold and even on Day 6, I am still exhibiting more and more congestion and now coughing. Most of the time, colds move WAY more quickly than this and I should be at the recovery stage by now, but instead I am wasting my beautiful 3-day vacation trying to do the things I had planned on doing, like walks in the sunshine and blogging, and sleeping when my body says it has to. And the worst part is that I don't know where I caught this from! No one at work is sick, my husband isn't sick and it doesn't seem to cold season. I feel like my body just invented this to tell me to rest even though I don't think I have been putting it through too much to begin with! I felt crappy enough to say to myself, "Jayne, you need to at least do your nails for today!"

This was another one of those times where a wonderfully bright and new nail polish collection showed up at my door and I wanted to wear ALL the colours! OPI's Summer Makes the Rules collection has entered the Jaynesphere and I want to wear them all! This was like me OPI's Power of Hue collection from last year. I think I have at least 10 manicures with polishes from this collection which is honestly a true indication of how much I loved the shades. This year might end up being the same with this collection because all of the shades are so summery and bright that it will be hard to stay away from them!

This doesn't look like a Fall manicure, but both of these shades are from the OPI Fall Wonders 2022 collection! There is also a bright coral shade in the collection as well so it just goes to show that sometimes Fall collections aren't necessarily all vampy shades. With losing a week to Covid last week and playing catch up at my day job, the blog has been a hard one to maintain and now with the holiday season revving up, I doubt I am going to be able to get back into the swing of things for blogging. I have one or two holiday things to discuss, but other than that, I have left it all very open-ended as I don't like to put a ton of pressure on myself for December. Getting sick for the first time in a long time was enough of a reminder to take care of myself!

NAILS | Pink Gradient Polka Dots ft. OPI Nature Strong #CBBxManiMonday

February is classically one of my favourite nail art months because even though I think Valentine's Day is kind of "blergh" in terms of consumerism, I do really love hearts, pink and all of the decorations and designs that accompany this "holiday"! I just received a package with OPI's newest line of vegan polishes and my my are they ever gorgeous! Coming in 30 shades, even just having the core collection will have you covered for all of your manicure needs for years to come! I found myself some Valentine's Day appropriate colours and though this isn't a complicated manicure, it sure is cute!

NAILS | It's Easy Being Green #CBBxManiMonday

Oh man was it hard to get up this morning...thankfully I had some time to breathe as it wasn't too crazy busy at work and I had a moment to catch up. I have been having a lot of fun creating content for my work Instagram and realized that I had a lot more jewelry Instagram reels than beauty ones so I decided to change that for today's #CBBxManiMonday!

NAILS | Valentine's Day 2021 #CBBxManiMonday

Yes, I know it's February 15th and Valentine's Day is over, but it seemed a shame to not have done any Valentine's Day-themed nails so here they are! I came across a screenshot of a Cutepolish tutorial in my Google search for some ideas as she often "borrows" from other nail polish bloggers without giving credit so I won't bother linking her video. I think in this particular video she has her collaborators doing the design so it's not her specifically anymore, but I have read enough about her in my early blogging days taking ideas from smaller bloggers, having those smaller bloggers fight back only to be attacked by her followers. I don't think it's hard to give credit to where you originally saw a design and though it's hard to call anything original now, I think you should do your best so if you Google "Valentine's Day Nail Art", a screenshot of her video will pop up should you wish to use it. The only thing I changed is making the pinky nail a leopard print nail.

NAILS | Happy Easter Bunny #CBBxManiMonday

This month's theme is "Flowers and Pastels" and though I have a couple of flower manicures floating around in my brain, I also realized that this Sunday is Easter and I have yet to do an Easter manicure! I feel like I have exhausted most of the ideas floating around and have done most of the standard Easter things like chicks, bunnies, bunny bums, bunnies eating carrots, Cadbury Eggs and regular eggs so after these bunnies, I am going to head into flowers as the possibilities are endless. I don't know what you all have going on today, but the first thing I will be doing after this is a bit of meal planning as we have now amassed a fair amount of food and need to pair some meals with them!

NAILS | Sometimes the Nails Need to Match the Lipstick #CBBxManiMonday

Wow, I did not realize I had been away from this space for over a week! This is kind of what happens when I work five days in a row, which I realize a large portion of the population does anyway, but this rarely happens for me since I work in retail so I am used to working shorter stretches and getting a bit of a recharge in between. Unfortunately, I just did not have the energy to sit at the computer without fading so here we are a week later with a set of nails!

NAILS | When All Else Fails, Do a Dotticure on your Nails #CBBxManiMonday

Dotticures always save the day like a glitter gradient. They are fast to do and look impressive even to a more seasoned nail art lover like me. I was going to feature this super cool green glitter, but then it turned out to not be the right kind of green and would have looked weird painted on top of a nude base so at midnight last night, I whipped out my dotting tools and dotted away to "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" on Netflix. I was exhausted when my alarm went of this morning at 6am for work, but looking at my pretty nails made it all worth it!

NAILS | Going Purple! #CBBxManiMonday

I feel like I haven't been here in awhile! Today is my half weekend and I promised myself that instead of running around like a crazy person that I would take today to chill and be a bit of a hermit as the last couple of weeks have been rather social even on my days off. Yesterday, Trysh, Renee and I decided to do purple-themed nails for ManiMonday and even though I agreed to join in, I was actually asleep at 10pm after a super long day at work, but realized I didn't to miss out on ManiMonday fun!

NAILS | A Day with Essie Treat Love & Colour

Some Essie newness has dropped and I was actually kind of excited. In the world of nail polish, Essie has typically not been my favourite brand. Though their original line of polishes had some cult classic shades that I had to own (Bikini So Teeny, Marshmallow etc.) they were never my first choice mainly due to the skinny application brush. The formulas were good, but the colours were also never wild enough for me though the cremes are brilliant for nail art. Earlier this week, I was very impressed by both the formula and brush of the Essie Gel Couture polishes and now I am nodding in my head in agreement for the newest shades of the Treat Love & Colour line!

NAILS | Mary Kay Fall 2016 Collection "My Nails Look Like Wrapping Paper" #ManiMonday

I have been going almost one year straight without missing a #ManiMonday and I have to say that I feel pretty proud of myself for having some form of a routine on Cosmetic Proof. I have seen a lot of bloggers come and go in my time here because of babies, school and just life in general and though the natural progression of beauty blogging is leaning towards editorial/media style write-ups, I have always loved the homegrown cozy feeling of a personal journal. These were the first blogs I really gravitated towards and though I have a few magazine-style blogs on my Bloglovin', I much prefer beauty blogs with a touch of personality, not too much controversy and a bit of humour. I try my best to do a blend of the three and though I haven't been quite as regular with the blog as last year, I truly enjoy doing it and will never throw in the towel as it is such an outlet for me. I get discouraged like any human being, but in the last year or so, I've realized that we all do our own thing here and as long as I continue to contribute content that expands our global knowledge base, I am a happy camper. So, what was I talking about again? Nails. Right.

The Body Shop Color Crush Nail Polish | Polka Dot French Manicure

The Body Shop Color Crush Nail Polishes ($8.00 CDN) have surprised me. I honestly did not think I would love and appreciate the formula and colours so much. Yes, they are all crèmes (for now…), but with every manicure I do, I fall deeper in love with them. Every time I wear them, someone always asks if it’s a gel polish because they are so shinyyyyy.

Today’s manicure was created with two (could have gotten away with one) coats of The Body Shop – Relish the Moment* and  The Body Shop – Frosting Fancy* using two different sized dotting tips to create the French tips.

The Body Shop | Color Crush Nail Polish Green and Mint Cream Polka Dots

I am a hardcore Body Shop Color Crush fan as demonstrated by my now growing collection of Color Crush eyeshadows (reviews here and here). This Fall, The Body Shop decided to add another dimension to their makeup line – NAIL POLISH. Please heart, be still! Color Crush Nail Polishes ($8.00 CDN) comes in 24 glossy creme finishes and are 100% vegan-friendly. I’ve always wondered what vegan meant when it came to nail polish and it means that any glitter or shimmer will not come from fish scales (random nail polish fact).

The Color Crush Nail Polish debut begins with two absolutely gorgeous coats of Green with tiny Mint Cream polka dots. Both polishes had smooth, easily opaque formulas and were shiny all on their own without the addition of my top coat. I added one anyway since I wanted to preserve my mani for a few days.

I was quite impressed with these first two nail polishes from The Body Shop and I have a feeling the rest will be making me just as happy.

Revlon Gel Envy | Up the Ante Swatches with Cardshark Nail Art

Revlon Gel Envy polishes have quickly become one of my favourite polishes to use ever since their release earlier this year. If I want opacity, I grab a Gel Envy. If I want a one coat polish, I grab a Gel Envy. If I want a colour that won’t disappoint, just give me a Gel Envy! Today I have a classic dotticure that I have been wearing for a full two days because I love it THAT much. All I am wearing is two coats of Up the Ante, a creamy, bright purple, followed with some dots in Cardshark, a soft baby pastel pink.

Essence Cosmetics | Fame Fatal Nail Polish and Polka Dot Nail Art

Essence Cosmetics just keeps getting better for me. I am LOVING Fame Fatal which is a dead, sexy red that is so shiny and delicious that there is no way anyone can say no to this colour! The combination of black and red is one of my favourites so I added some black dots in Essence – Black is Back with a dotting tool.
