SKINCARE | Okoko Cosmetiques Delice Overnight Mask

Okoko Cosmetiques Delice Brightening and Smoothing Sleeping Mask

Purchased by me

It has been a few years since I have featured Vancouver-based skincare brand Okoko Cosmetiques on Cosmetic Proof, but that is mainly because since my last review (here), I've pretty much been using the same products repeatedly because I like them and haven't seen the need to change things up too much, but one product that I haven't talked about that I have found fun and interesting to use is the Delice Overnight Mask!

How I haven't done a non-sheet mask review for Korean skincare brand Dr. Jart is a mystery to me, but as I am playing an eternal game of beauty product review catch up, I guess it's not a huge surprise. I first tried the Dr. Jart Cicapair collection back in 2019 when I went to a Sephora GWP event at Park Royal with a friend and the featured brand was Dr. Jart. The Cicapair collection contains Centella asiatica or cica which is known to be very skin-soothing. It is also referred to by the name "tiger grass" as tigers would roll on this soothing grass whenever they were itchy or needed healing! That day, I picked up the Tiger Grass Calming Mist to dip a toe into the brand's actual skincare and was quite pleased! I recently had the opportunity to try a few more Cicapair products so I think I now have a pretty good understanding of the collection!

I had planned on talking about self tanners and being glowy for summer a loooong time ago having tested this Bondi Sands Self Tanning Sleep Mask back in July when I was on vacation, but fate intervened and all things beauty were put on hold for a bit. I guess we still want to look glowy in the dead of winter so maybe this product can still be of use to some of you!

BODY | Avon Anew Vitamin C Collection

We are so used to seeing and using vitamin C products for the face, but I don't think I've ever really looked at vitamin C products for the body so when Avon released a collection of vitamin C products promising radiance for the rest of my body I thought it was perfect as who does not want to be as radiant as an orange this summer!

SKINCARE | New MaskerAide Rosy Dreams Hydrating Sleeping Mask

If you have been following me for awhile, you will know that I am a very big MaskerAide fan! I first fell in love with this Toronto-based company about 10 years ago after trying out their All Nighter Sheet Mask so I always look forward to whenever they have new products. Last month, MaskerAide released their brand new Rosy Dreams Hydrating Sleeping Mask and all I could say was "Yes, please!"

SKINCARE | Laneige Eye Sleeping Mask #KBeautyJune

I hesitate to talk about Laneige much on the blog only because this is a Korean beauty brand that has really exploded now that it is available in Sephora and I would rather feature KBeauty products that are not readily available here. Though there are a plethora of Laneige products that I have yet to discuss, I wanted to jump the gun with a product that I started using right away when it appeared at my doorstep - the Laneige Eye Sleeping Mask* because it is just a fascinating one!

SKINCARE | Omorovicza Midnight Radiance Mask First Impressions + GIVEAWAY!

Oooh, have I got a treat for you guys today! Earlier this year, I was given the opportunity to learn all about and meet  Margaret de Heinrich de Omorovicza, one half of the founding duo of, Omorovicza. Based in Budapest, all products are made with the healing thermal waters from the family owned Omorovicza spas in Hungary. When Margaret was in Vancouver, she did a wonderful job of explaining the science of why Omorovicza's products work, but in such a luxurious way that I wasn't bored at all. Historically, the Hungarian thermal waters were found to have healing properties due to the mineral content of the waters themselves as the Earth's crust is slightly thinner in this area of the world, allowing more minerals into the water. Everyone at the table was just riveted with hearing the story of the brand and the love story that started it all that I cannot do it justice in just this one post! Luckily I have many more products to share with you, but today I will start off with a brand new product - the Midnight Radiance Mask* ($155 CDN/50mL)!

Korean Beauty | Laneige Water Sleeping Mask

Skincare can feel like a lot of work sometimes and I understand why people would want to keep it simple. I have grown to love my 8-9 step skincare routine as it has not only become an essential part of skin upkeep, but a way for me to relax as I am ridiculously high strung and was recently told my by HR to basically "chill the F out" (very nicely of course!). Sleeping packs or sleeping masks are a bit of treat for the skin as they are usually thicker and absorb much more slowly than regular moisturizers. They are more well-known in Asian skincare and I am glad to see this type of product hitting the North American market.

Skin heals and renews itself at night which is where the idea of the sleeping mask was born. During the day, our skin goes through quite a bit of environmental stress which is evident when you look at your skin at the end of a long day! The Laneige Water Sleeping Mask* is an intensive moisturizing mask that promises to revitalize skin the next morning as if skin has had a "restful sleep". It also contains a few skin technologies like "Sleep-Tox" which makes skin appear rested and radiant and Sleepscent which is meant to relax the mind upon smelling. I don't know about the Sleep Tox, but the scent of this mask was certainly comforting.

Boscia | Tsubaki Deep Hydrating Sleeping Mask

I love face masks. Not to sound promiscuous, but if I get to sleep with one I’m even more excited at the prospect of waking up with sensational skin! Boscia(pronounced BO-SHAH) products have slowly been making their way into my skincare and beauty regime starting with the Boscia BB Cream, Makeup Breakup Cool Cleansing Oil and now the Tsubaki Deep Hydrating Sleeping Mask ($42 CDN) made with Boscia’s signature blend of tsubaki oil (camellia oil), wakame (Japanese sea kelp), and rice bran oil to hydrate, smooth and protect all while you sleep!

Boscia Tsubaki Deep Hydration Sleeping Mask (2)

Like most sleeping masks, the consistency is quite thick and has a slightly tacky finish. There is also little to no scent.

Final Verdict: There is one main purpose to this sleeping mask and it is HYDRATION, but another wonderful thing is that there are bonus anti-aging benefits to this mask thanks to numerous antioxidants present in tsubaki oil and Japanese sea algae. Rice bran oil is rich in essential fatty acids and Vitamin E and boosts skin’s regenerative properties leading to an improvement in overall skin texture. It also has anti-inflammatory properties, so if you’re like me and tend to get a little red as it the weather gets drier, this is a sleeping mask worth trying.

I counted the hours it took for the mask to fully absorb into my face it was around 4 hours, BUT my skin felt wonderful when I woke up in the morning. Baby soft and still hydrated, it was worth the wait. If you apply this mask just prior to sleeping, you will experience a bit of tackiness. This mask was so hydrating that my skincare routine became: cleanser, toner, serum, sleeping mask. Sometimes I layer a sleeping mask ON TOP of my moisturizer, but that was not necessary at all! For anyone just wanting to try a travel size sample of this sleeping mask, Sephora has the Tsubaki Cleanse and Hydrate Trio ($25 CDN) that has this mask plus a mini Konjac sponge and cleansing oil! Such a great price!

Have you tried anything from Boscia yet?

Korres | Wild Rose + Vitamin C Advanced Brightening Sleeping Facial

My nightly skincare routine is VERY important to me as I think of it not as just downtime for me, but for my skin as well. I pamper it and make sure that I put it to bed hydrated and happy. After cleansing, toning and applying serum, every other night I always use a hydrating mask that I can comfortably wear to bed. I have tried a couple of different sleeping masks and some are so sticky that I find my face sticking to the pillow or covered in cat fur so I do prefer a mask that absorbs quickly.

So far, I have found one sleeping mask I like and now, I have found the second. The Korres Wild Rose + Vitamin C Advanced Brightening Sleeping Facial ($48 CDN) is a sleeping facial/mask for ALL skin types and is formulated with Wild Rose oil and Vitamin C to combat premature aging and environmental stress. Its weightless and soufflé-like texture work to improve skin texture and promote even and brightened skin tone.
