MAKEUP LOOK | Lise Watier Urban Velocity Collection

I messed up my neck so sitting here and typing is agonizing even with the Advil and massage I managed to get from my husband, but the new Spring collection from Lise Watier has been one that I have been excited to talk about so I am going to suck it up and take you through the light-hearted and fresh Urban Velocity

HOLIDAY | Lise Watier Glam Celebration Makeup Collection

When we caught a preview of the Lise Watier Glam Celebration collection at the London Drugs Beauty Event back in October, we were all very excited about the amount of shimmer that was coming our way!

MAKEUP | Lise Watier Baiser Satin in Natural Kiss, Inferno Kiss and Red Hot Kiss Swatches and Review

I have been crushing on lip products lately and my theme has been "the brighter, the better"! With the beginning of the Lunar New Year this weekend, I feel even more invigorated to be more adventurous with lip colours though some mornings when it's 6am, it feels REALLY strange to be putting on a red hot lip!

While I have generally preferred wearing lipstick with gloss on top, the trend of ever pigmented liquid lipsticks continues and while I found the matte finishes finicky, the satin finish seems to be the happy medium that I can get on board with. The Lise Watier Baiser Satin ($28.00 CDN)) lipsticks are one of the most luscious formulas I have ever used! With a semi-matte finish the glides on smoothly, I don't ever find myself feeling the need to add moisture or exfoliate areas that are dry enough to peel!

MAKEUP | Lise Watier Arabesque Holiday Collection Review with Swatches and Holiday Glowing FOTD

As I write this, I have Google Play Music playing only the best of Christmas pop and I know the holiday season is here. I feel like from here on in, all of us are just living for Dec.25th! I don't even know what to blog about other than holiday now. I mean, would you read something OTHER than holiday content at this point?

One brand that I look forward to seeing every holiday season is Lise Watier. I always find their collections so cohesive and complete with new shade additions to existing favourites and of course palette packaging and embossing that will leave any beauty lover wanting more! This year's Arabesque Collection is elegantly holiday-themed with ballet and dance being the inspiration behind the swirls and romantic shades.

MAKEUP | Lise Watier Chic & Rustique 2016 Fall Collection with Makeup Look

Earlier last month, I posted this look using the Lise Watier Chic & Rustique Eyeshadow Palette as part of a Shoppers Drug Mart Instagram campaign. It just so happens that I really fell in love with wearing this look on a regular basis as it was definitely safe for work as well as soft and approachable.  Though Lise Watier has moved into the Arabesque collection in stores, most of the products I used from Chic & Rustique are part of the permanent makeup collection. While I will get into the holiday collections soon enough, I am one of those people that won't acknowledge the holiday season until AFTER Remembrance Day though I know most of the first world does not work that way. Christmas is the one time of the year that seriously lasts two months and I will happily live in my bubble of denial for the next two weeks. Those who are with me, say 'Ay!"

Sunday Essentials Edition #1 | My 5 Favourite Foundations

Ever since I stopped doing monthly favourites, I haven't really had the opportunity to share products that I have been using religiously. Looking at my routine, I actually have A LOT things that I have been loving to bits, but haven't actually written about!

Over the past two years, I have developed an unhealthy/healthy addiction to foundation. Never in my lifetime would I have thought I would love foundation so much, but it ties in to my utter love of skincare. Good skin is the perfect foundation for well, foundation! When I started this blog in 2011, I didn't even wear real foundation! I stuck to BB creams and mineral powder because I was convinced that foundation was only for people with "problem skin". I didn't realize that foundation comes in varying levels of coverage and can be used to enhance, cover and even out skin tone. Some can even be relatively hydrating if need be! Though I have a number of foundation favourites, these five are the ones that I have been reaching for on a daily basis for most of the year!

MAKEUP LOOK | Lise Watier Majestique Holiday 2015 Collection Mini Reviews and Swatches

I had the photos for this post already to go for NYE, but I was one of those unfortunate few that had to work the couple of days up until New Year's so to be honest, I fell asleep at 8pm NYE and called it a night! The holidays have been both utterly wonderful and exhausting and I have to admit that holiday makeup collections contribute to a large part of the "wonderfulness"! I talk a lot about Lise Watier on the blog because it is by and large a Canadian brand that I am surprised not MORE Canadians have tried and loved. The collections are consistent and the quality is nothing short of amazing. The limited edition Lise Watier Majestique Holiday Collection is yet another solid collection that let's celebrate while looking incredibly elegant.

MAKEUP LOOK | Lise Watier EYEvolution Eyeshadow Quartet Review with Swatches

I am the worst. I am about to talk about something that you cannot purchase anymore because I was too busy trying to squeeze in some Halloween looks for you all! I know that the Lise Watier EYEvolution collection has been featured a few times throughout the blogosphere months ago, but I only got to play with this collection in September and though that sounds like plenty of time, those of you who have day jobs, kids and such will know how time can just slip away! Nevertheless, Lise Watier always wows me when it comes to their lip and eye products, so today it is all about the limited edition EYEvolution Eyeshadow Quartet* ($37 CDN) in all its beauty!

MAKEUP LOOK | Lise Watier Summer 2015 Rivages Collection Eyeshadow Palette and Bronzing Powder Review & Swatches

Last month we all squealed at the release of a STUNNING summer collection from Lise Watier and my only regret is waiting so long to share it with you all! The Rivages Collection features nine new products, a few of which I will be using in my makeup look today. My main focus though? That limited edition droolworthy eyeshadow palette and beautiful bronzer all inspired by summer days at the beach, hot sand and a refreshing ocean breeze!

MAKEUP LOOK | Lise Watier Limited Edition Expression Eyeshadow Palette Review & Swatches

Nothing makes me happier than playing with a fresh new set of eyeshadow shades. Seeing all the shades lined up like a little colour army brings me nothing but utter joy. Every Lise Watier collection has something that I cannot get enough of and when it comes to the Spring 2015 Expression Collection, it is the Expression Eyeshadow Palette*($42 CDN) featuring five bright shades ranging from matte to shimmery to iridescent. This collection is all about being your own inner artist and unleashing that hidden creativity. I don’t consider myself to be an overly creative person thanks to my Grade 8 art teacher never giving me more than a C+, but palettes like this make me forget about that 13 year old girl that believed she could do no better.

MAKEUP | Lise Watier Aurora Collection Blush Fondant Supreme in Naturel Review & Swatches

As Lise Watier is our CBB featured brand of the month this will be my last post professing my undying love for the Aurora Collection. Along with falling in love with the Rouge Fondant Supreme in Stella (review), I was unexpectedly taken aback by how much I enjoyed the colour and formula of Blush Fondant Supreme in Naturel*($30.00 CDN) and its adjustable matte cream to powder texture. It also contains Lise Watier’s coveted Labrador Tea Extract and feels just so amazingly weightless on the skin.

MAKEUP | Lise Watier Aurora Collection Rouge Fondant Supreme in Stella Review & Swatches

Last month I was oohing and aahing over the winter Lise Watier Aurora Collection and fell in love with pretty much everything (post). I loved the lipstick from my past makeup look so much that I wanted to give the Rouge Fondant Supreme in Stella*($24.00 CDN) a bit of a spotlight because she is absolutely lovely. The main feature of this lipstick is the presence of Lise Watier’s Concentrated Labrador Tea Extract which has been shown to have antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and even anticancer properties (Dufour et al., April 2007).

LOOK | Lise Watier Aurora Eyeshadow Palette Blue and Gold Eye Makeup Look, Review and Swatches

Before this post happened, the one and only time I wore a tiara was to my wedding. I have been DYING to wear it again and to be honest, it’s hard to justify wearing one even for a night out because let’s face it. It’s a freakin’ tiara. It suddenly dawned on me that I could actually wear one for a holiday/NYE party because like Halloween, you can practically get away with the beauty equivalent of murder in the form of over-the-top looks and accessories. Lise Watier’s holiday makeup collections are always one of my favourites because there’s always glitz with an everyday element in all of their palettes.

The new Lise Watier Aurora Collection is a prime example of glam and practicality all rolled into one collection of deep purples, blues and hints of gold. I was SUPER impressed by a number of pieces in this collection, but today’s focus will be on the Aurora Palette Eyeshadows* ($43 CDN), composed of 6 ultra-pigmented metallic eyeshadows encased in a dark blue, glittery compact.

September and October 2014 Favourites

Sept and Oct 2014 Favourites

1. Bliss | Lemon and Sage Body Butter

You’ll notice it says “super-sized” because that is EXACTLY what it is. It’s 414mL of well..pure bliss. I have always been a fan of the bliss body butters for their unique, yet subtle blend of scents. I obviously loved the lemon and sage scent enough to buy this mofo and haven’t looked back!

2. Shu Uemura | Brave Beauty Orange Palette

Those of you who saw my makeup look with this palette (here) know that I fell in love with the colour orange right then and there. The pigmentation and quality floored me and warrants  its hefty $90 price tag if you’re looking for a palette that is completely different.

3. Urban Decay | Naked Flushed Palette

I picked this up last year, but have only really discovered it this year. This palette contains a highlighter, blush and bronzer all in one giant piece and you can select which parts you want to use. I generally use just the highlighter and blush and love that I can get a shimmer to my blush without having to open another product.

4. Lavanila | Vanilla Grapefruit Fragrance

I picked this up as a trio of minis a few years back and have been conserving the scent since. It lasts for HOURS on me and I love that two of my most favourite types of scents have been combined to form this lovely being. I also use the Vanilla Grapefruit deodorant and it is the ONLY deodorant scent that I have yet to get sick of.

5. Salonpas | Adhesive Muscle Relief Strips

I feel really old even mentioning these, but I actually use these to ease menstrual cramps. They feel more minty than hot, but the few hours of relief I get from one little patch is awesome. These look like an “ethnic” purchase, but I actually get mine from Shoppers Drug Mart. I hope I didn’t sound super racist right there…

6. Urban Decay | Naked 3 Dual-Ended 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil

I am totally obsessed with this eyeliner! On one end is Darkside and the other Blackheart. I use both fairly frequently with Blackheart being my personal favourite as it is a black liner with purple sparkles! It just makes a casual eye look just THAT much more interesting.

7. Marcelle | Lengthening and Curling Mascara

I will have to do a review of this (*ties a string around finger*) because I have recently rediscovered this little beauty. It is one of the few mascaras that seems to “add” lashes to my non-existent ones. It’s kind of magical, but the formula can get heavy for me if I over do it so I have to be careful.

8. Lise Watier | Liquid Eyeliner in Black

This was my very first liquid eyeliner EVER. I first purchased this in 2009 because it has one of the FINEST brushes I have ever used. I have used a lot of eyeliners after this and nothing has even come close. You just have to have a steady hand.

9. Clarisonic | Cashmere Cleanse Facial Brush

OMG. Ask to feel this in a Sephora and then rip open the box and try it on your face with water. It feels like your face is being massaged by a cloud. This is a very gentle cleanse so don’t look to this facial brush for a deep cleanse by any means.

Two months of favourites DONE! Off to read what the rest of you have been loving!

Lise Watier | “Alex Collection” by Alexandra Larouche with Swatches and Makeup Look

How awesome is it that Lise Watier decided to partner up with a beauty vlogger to create a makeup collection? We’ve seen this type of partnership happen before with other US companies, but with Lise Watier being Canadian, it feels like this collaboration is happening “within the family”. The Alex Collection is described as a “luminous collection for both young girls women alike” and has been created by YouTuber Alexandra Larouche of Alex Fashion Beauty. I had not heard of Alex until this collection launched as her channel is in French and even with my high school knowledge of the language, it can get hard to follow especially when she’s excited about something!

Collection Alex consists of three products, sold exclusively on the Lise Watier website as a tribute to the medium that has made Alex successful. The rose gold packaging is just gorgeous and the chevrons are a symbol that Alex has adopted throughout her vlogging career.

CBB Guest Post with Sarah from Workaday Ramblings| Purple Eye Makeup Looks

Are you guys in for a treat today! I am absolutely delighted to have Sarah from Workaday Ramblings share with all of you some fun and totally wearable purple eye makeup looks that will leave you feeling regal and empowered as the colour purple should! Take it away Sarah!

Hello, I'm Sarah from Workaday Ramblings. I'm taking over Jayne's blog today to talk about purple.

I love purple everything. Purple eyeshadow, purple eyeliner, purple nail polish, purple clothes. I'd wear purple every day if I didn't think I'd get sick of it. So today I'm going to share a smudgey purple eyeliner look that I've done with two different sets of products.

Smudgey purple liner - Infallible

In this look, I used only eyeshadows on my eyes. I started by applying The Body Shop Colour Crush Eye Shadow in Oh Honey all over my eye lids.

I then added a thick line of L'Oreal Infallible in Burning Black. I used a brush to smudge it up into the lighter shade. The name of this shadow is a bit misleading as it's a gorgeous dark maroon-purple.

I finished with some mascara, and my eyes were done.

Lise Watier | Eden Tropical Coral Paradise Nail Lacquer and Geometric Nail Art

I love summer nail polish colours. Every colour is so unforgivingly intense and bright and I feel like even if you’re in a bad mood, having brights on your nails is the perfect antidote to the blues. Right out of Lise Watier’s Eden Tropical Collection, Coral Paradise Nail Lacquer is the prime example of a happy, bright polish with its peach creaminess. To add a little bit of flair to Coral Paradise, I added some striping tape and individually painted the sections with black and gold polish. I peeled off the tape and got this tribal-looking manicure!

Lise Watier Eden Tropical | Blush Creme Satin in Rose Eden with Swatches

Lise Watier never ceases to delight with their summer collections with Eden Tropical being no exception. This collection is filled with your classic bronzer and summer brights, but what has really caught my eye lately are cream blushes! Now that I know how to apply them, I have experienced their lasting power in action and have deemed it a must-have in my summer makeup routine. There are two cream blushes in the Eden Tropical collection: Coral Paradise and Rose Eden ($24.00) with Rose Eden being the one I will share with you today!

Lise Watier | Spring Imagine 2014 Collection with Makeup Look!

Nothing signals the coming of Spring more than a new makeup collection from Lise Watier! Now, I know the Summer collection is already out, but it IS still Spring which means I can still share with you some of the wonderful products from the Imagine collection!

DSC_0828

The Imagine Eyeshadow Quartet ($36.00) contains all the colours you will need to create a beautiful sunset gradient across your lids. I found the shadows easier to work with using my fingers and patting the colour on my eyelids instead of using a brush as I found the colour payoff to be much better. Although all of the shades do work together, I found the shimmery blue to be my favourite.

Favourites | March 2014

Oh my goodness, we are motoring along in the year and we have now come to another month end which means another month of favourites! I feel like I had more than what I have showing here, but this is all I could remember! I really need to start making notes!
