Soon I will have Santas, snowflakes and Christmas trees, but for now let's stick with reds and some shimmer with what's known in the nail polish world as a "flakie"! When I saw that Dior's holiday Splendor collection contained a flakie polish, I was very pleased! Flakies have traditionally been an indie polish thing and are part of the glitter umbrella, but with the advent of social media, bloggers and other influencers, indie products can quickly move into the mainstream population. Let's get a closer look at the iridescent Dior - Nova*!
I started with two coats of Dior - Passion* from last years State of Gold holiday collection and applied a shiny top coat. I then used a black nail art striper to draw a "V" and paint in the sides.
I applied two coats of Dior - Nova on top of the black polish as the flakies weren't too concentrated. To contrast the flakies with the black polish, I applied a matte top coat on JUST the areas with the black polish. For a final touch, I added my favourite round, gold studs!
The Dior Splendor Collection is available for a limited time now at all Dior counters.
