Too Cool for School Jelly Blusher Swatches Review

Everything in Korean beauty is just so cute that I have to restrain myself quite often when it comes to purchases. It's always the packaging the gets me and when it came to these Too Cool for School Jelly Blushers and their little plaid metal boxes, I just could not say no!

Just as the name implies, these blushers are cushion-like in texture and while they start off like a cream, they transform into a powder once in contact with skin. There are five different shades of Jelly Blusher, but I chose the shades Strawberry Chou and Cherry Squeeze which even after looking at swatches may not have been the best colour choices for me...you'll find out in a bit why.

The slide-on lid can be a bit cumbersome as you have to slide it off quite a bit to get decent access to the blush which is quite tiny. Sometimes the lid would get stuck along the side rails.

These are pretty pigmented and blend fairly nicely once they become powder. On my arm, the colours look totally wearable, right?

This is Strawberry Chou ON MY FACE. I really shouldn't be smiling because it honestly looks like someone rubbed chalk all over my face. The ring light may be accentuating this chalkiness, but it's really just TOO pink on me. My husband said I shouldn't have even shared this photo, but this is REAL folks. This is real.

Cherry Squeeze was a little better and is closer to a brighter blush I would wear with maybe a dark lip or smoky eye.

Final verdict: I still think these are absolutely adorable, but I was not expecting Strawberry Chou to look as light pink as it did on my skin. In the packaging, I thought it would lean more peach. Wear time was great, with both shades staying locked in for a whole work day. While I don't think I would get more of these, I'm glad I have them because of the novelty aspect! They are fun to play with and brought me quite a bit of joy when I first pushed my finger in that "fresh snow" surface!
