There are five different hair treats each addressing a specific hair concern, four of which I will share with you today: Smoothing, Nourishing, Damage Repairing and Strengthening. All five masks contain 98% derived ingredients, a formulation that is 94% and are 100% vegan. These masks can also be used three ways: as a conditioner, leave-in treatment and of course as a MASK!
I first tried the Smoothing Hair Treat with Avocado Extract* earlier this year and found that I had fewer frizzies and more sleek hair after blow-drying. The scent of the mask reminds me a bit of melon and though I found the overall effects to be positive, now that I have tried the other masks, this Smoothing Mask took away some of the volume my hair normally has.
I found the effects of the Strengthening Treat with Banana Extract* and Nourishing Treat with Coconut Extract* to be relatively similar with the only difference being the actual scent of the product. The Strengthening Treat contains banana fruit extract and does smell like banana, but I am sure that this is mostly added fragrance. The Nourishing Treat smelled intensely like artificial coconut and was the scent I liked the least. The effects of both of these masks were alright, but other than perhaps some extra smoothness to my hair, I have experienced more dramatic results with other products.
My favourite mask was the Damage Repairing Treat with Papaya Extract Mask* because of both the mouth-wateringly delicious scent and the volume I got at my roots. My hair felt smooth and was easy to brush through and more importantly LOOKED visibly healthier especially after styling.
Final verdict: I am a huge fan of how quickly these masks worked because I could apply them right after my conditioner and then easily fill up the time with exfoliating my face and body. They are incredibly affordable and often go on sale at the drugstore for $2.99 and for someone like myself with long hair, each jar will easily last 20 treatments making this a great value! While they all gave my hair slightly similar results, it really took me paying attention from application to waking up the next morning and styling my hair when it was fully dry to see the slight differences in results between each. I obviously kept my shampoo and conditioner the same during the testing process (Shu Uemura Cleansing Oil Shampoo and Conditioner for Colour-Treated Hair), but found that the Papaya Treat was the one that worked best for me!
The Garnier Fructis Hair Treats are available at mass drugstores across Canada.
