KBEAUTY | Glow Recipe Watermelon Glow Jelly Sheet Mask #100DaysofSheetMasks

Exactly two years ago, I placed my first Glow Recipe order because it was THE super sexy new place to shop for Kbeauty products that weren't quite as mainstream in North America as other more well-known favourites. Even now, I still find their selection of products quite good and then Glow Recipe did something even sexier - come out with their very own line of products! Only recently have their products become available at Sephora so when their Watermelon Glow Jelly Sheet Mask became available to order I jumped at the chance! I mean, look at how CUTE that packaging is!

This is the ultimate juicy, hydrating treatment that can be the instant fix to parched and thirsty skin, a refreshing treatment twice a week or even as a prep mask to smooth and depuff skin before applying makeup - like on your wedding day! This lightly pink completely clear mask (I don't know why I get a kick out of wearing a mask that is completely clear as opposed to just translucent) comes in two pieces so that the fit is perfect around every one of your facial contours and of course smells just DIVINE!

This is a hydrogel sheet soaking in approximately 30mL of serum and formulated with watermelon extract (ingredient #1!), hyaluronic acid (ingredient #7) and Centella asiatica aka gotu kola (ingredient #5 and is incredibly soothing). Not having water as the first ingredient is HUGE in any skincare formulation so this is impressive as it also tends to preserve the shelf-life of the product by quite a bit as bacteria can no longer grow.

I adore the packaging of this mask! All of the hydrogel masks I have used are typically in packets, but this one is in a convenient watermelon slice-shaped peelable package that was QUITE satisfying to open up. Inside, the mask is lined with a protective backing and can be removed after cleansing.

The hydrogel is very thin and as much as I love hydrogel masks, I always end up tearing a corner with my nail in the adjustment process so I try to nail the position of the mask bits the first time! The mask is almost completely clear which can make it hard to see where the mask is on the skin, but it does look really cool in the end!

After about 20 minutes I removed the mask and my skin really felt NICE. Refreshed, hydrated and certainly not tacky. I was on a total high until I continued the rest of my skincare routine about an hour later and when I applied my Kiehl's Ultra Facial Cream, my face started to "pill" which I can only attribute to the mask. It was the strangest thing though because I did not feel a residue on my face so either this was NOT the right moisturizer for use with this mask OR this mask is a dud. I am not inclined to believe the latter and hope to try this again with perhaps the Glow Recipe Watermelon Pink Juice Moisturizer.

Mask Summary:

Scent: Deliciously juicy watermelon
Duration: 10-15 minutes
Thickness: Thin
Mask Fit: Both pieces fit very well, but a bit of lifting around chin that needed smoothing
Tackiness: Minimal
Hydration: Very good and refreshing!

Final verdict: I loved everything about this mask! Packaging, ingredients, face feel and mask fit. I will attribute the pilling to my moisturizer and will have to try something else because I would hate to say no to this beauty of a mask just because I didn't choose the right texture to pair it with. This mask IS on the pricey side at $11 CDN each so even the recommendation of twice a week seems a bit luxurious, but once a month or just the odd time here and there for when your skin needs a boost or you have a big event planned is perfect. This mask is amazeballs and lives up to the hype! I already have another one waiting for purchase in my Sephora cart for whenever the next VIB Rouge event rolls around!
