KBEAUTY | Repiel Timeless Line Bio Masks (Line Shot, Mela Shot and Aqua Shot!)

It's sheet mask time again! I have been DYING to share my thoughts on the Repiel Timeless Collection because they are all biocellulose masks which are one of my FAVOURITE types of mask material because not only is the texture like skin, the fit is near perfect and my skin is always so happy afterwards! The Timeless Collection also come very sexily packaged in syringe-like tubes which also make great containers for storing the leftover essence for later use!

I had not heard of Korean cosmeceutical brand Repiel until I saw the Timeless Line masks pop up on people's Instagram feeds. In addition to Repiel's secondary biocellulose collection, known as the Perfect Fit Line, Repiel also carries cellulose masks for the face, feet and hands within the Daily and Smart Lines. I have spoken extensively about the wonders of biocellulose and its bacterial fermentation origins (here) so I will not bore you again, but I will mention that these masks are made through the fermentation of coconut water and though they aren't as thick as the ones from For Beloved One, they are only $8 each compared to almost $20!

Within the Timeless Line are four masks targeting the skin concerns: dryness, anti-aging, dullness and redness. I received three of them and though I only have one mask selfie, each mask visually looked the same, BUT had slightly differing results!

One thing to note is that each mask is rolled up in the tube and has a gauze sheet on either side, Make sure you peel off BOTH gauze sides because biocellulose masks like this one are incredibly THIN. It may not look like there is anything there, but I assure you there is! A lot of people either don't realize they need to peel off both sides or that they need to peel off any sides at all!

Repiel Timeless Bio Mask Review

Timeless Aqua-Shot Bio Mask*

Scent: None
Duration: 15-20 minutes
Thickness: Very thin (I actually tore it when I removed the mask)
Mask Fit: Perfect
Tackiness: High
Hydration: Intense

This was the first mask I tried because it seemed like a good place to start as the goal of this mask was to provide a massive 72 hour dose of hydration using an ingredient called "pentavitin" which sounds like "5 of something", but what those are I don't know. From the description, it sounds like a humectant and though I didn't put this to the 72 hour test as like most people, I need to wash my face twice a day, it was quite tacky in finish and even after 2 hours my skin felt like I had just had a facial. You know that plump feeling you get? THAT. It was almost a little uncomfortable because my skin was still quite tacky when I was in bed, but if you have seriously dry skin, this mask will do the trick!

Timeless Mela-Shot Bio Mask

Scent: None
Duration: 15-20 minutes
Thickness: Very thin
Mask Fit: Perfect
Tackiness: Light
Hydration: Good

This was my favourite mask as I wasn't even really thinking about what the results were supposed to be and then I looked at my skin in the mirror after I had removed the mask and was like "Damn girl, your skin looks so bright!" This mask contains Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate which is an ingredient I have only ever seen The Ordinary use and in serum form, not in a sheet mask essence so seeing this ingredient here was quite cool! It is a water-soluble and stable derivative of vitamin C with the same efficacy, but in lower concentrations. It is also a less irritating form of vitamin C for those with more sensitive skin. Personally, I cannot use certain vitamin C products everyday because I tend to get red. MAP is also an anti-inflammatory used for UV protection and repair, collagen production and skin brightening (Truth in Aging, January 2019).

Ingredients: Water, Butylene Glycol, Glycerin, Alcohol, Glycereth-26, PEG/PPG-17/6 Copolymer, Biosaccharide Gum-1, Theanine, Milk Lipids, Glutathione, Ethylhexylglycerin, Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate (MAP), Niacinamide, Hydrogenated Lecithin, Dipotassium Glycyrrhizate, Ceramide 3, PEG-32, 1,2-Hexanediol, PEG-60 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Phenyl Trimethicone, Hydroxyethyl Acrylate/Sodium Acryloyldimethyl Taurate Copolymer, Panthenol, Arginine, Xanthan Gum, Carbomer, Disodium EDTA, Fragrance, Sodium Hyaluronate, Phenoxyethanol

Timeless Line-Shot Bio Mask

Scent: None
Duration: 15-20 minutes
Thickness: Very thin
Mask Fit: Perfect
Tackiness: Light
Hydration: Good

This mask was like a fusion of the Aqua-Shot and Mela-Shot masks as it had the glow of the latter and with good hydration levels. This mask is all about firming the skin and contains silk amino acids which instantly firm skin and something called "volufiline" which increases skin's elasticity while plumping. This aspect of the mask I did not notice as biocellulose masks require 2-3x of weekly regular use for more long term effects. I'm not an age where I am noticing less of a bounce to my skin, but I have a feeling once I hit 40 that there will be some massive overhauling to my skincare routine!

Ingredients: Water, Butylene Glycol, Glycerin, Alcohol, Glycereth-26, PEG/PPG-17/6 Copolymer, Biosaccharide Gum-1, Theanine, Milk Lipids, Glutathione, Ethylhexylglycerin, Silk Amino Acids, Hydrogenated Polyisobutene, Anemarrhena Asphodeloides Root Extract, PEG-32, 1,2-Hexanediol, PEG-60 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Phenyl Trimethicone, Hydroxyethyl Acrylate/Sodium Acryloyldimethyl Taurate Copolymer, Panthenol, Xanthan Gum, Carbomer, Arginine, Disodium EDTA, Fragrance, Sodium Hyaluronate, Phenoxyethanol

Repiel Timeless Bio Mask Review

Final verdict: When it comes to biocellulose masks, I compare everything to the ones from For Beloved One which I treat as my Gold Standard. These masks are much thinner than FBO and even a touch thinner than the ones I have tried from Mary Kay and bliv which may explain the pricing at just $8 each. I had mentioned that I tore the first mask I used because while all of the other biocellulose masks I have used peeled off quite easily, these Repiel ones held less essence so there wasn't as nice of a "glide" when it came time for removal. My skin did not suffer from a lack of moisture though so I will let this slide.

If you are looking to try biocellulose masks and are hesitant to spend the $15-$20 that most are, these Repiel ones are a good place to start. They are solid for the price and something I would be more inclined to use multiple times a week over masks that are triple the price. I would just keep in mind that there are thicker biocellulose masks out there that have gone through a longer fermentation process and will feel a bit more solid in mask fit.

Repiel is available at www.beautella.ca with free shipping over $50!
