NAILS | Jamberry Nail Wraps in Black and White #CBBxManiMonday

I hope no Jamberry consultants see this post because this manicure turned out to be a horrible fail which I believe to be my fault and not really that of the wraps. I first reviewed (and LOVED) the Jamberry Nail Wraps back in 2014 at the height of the nail wrap trend and after trying many MANY brands, Jamberry wraps were actually the ones that worked best for me. As the last ManiMonday for "Nails I Wouldn't Do", the nail artist in me always feels a little weird using wraps because I feel like I'm cheating, but for a design like today's, for someone like me who can't stamp, I would prefer the wrap option! My application technique must have been better 5 years ago because the results were not quite as nice this time around...

Purchased by me

I know a lot of people say nail wraps don't work for them because their nails are curved, but honestly MY NAILS ARE SUPER CURVY! I was comparing my photos from the last time I used these wraps and my nails were shorter so there was less of a curve to contend with. I also don't know if these nail wraps expire or if the adhesive stops responding to heat after awhile. I hadn't opened the package until I applied the wraps so no air could have gotten in.

For those of you who are not familiar with Jamberry Nail Wraps, they are not made of nail polish, but of vinyl. The back of the wrap has an adhesive that is activated by heat. You can either use the Jamberry mini heater, which I would have preferred because it is less cumbersome and compact, but you can also use a hair dryer or flat iron. I only remembered AFTER I had done this manicure that I had used a flat iron the first time and was using my all powerful Baby Buttercup which was probably overkill.

I did use a rubber cuticle pusher to try to smooth out all of the wrinkles, but my pointer nail, which is so curved it actually curves downward, could not be saved. I tried heating the wraps again in an effort to soften the adhesive once more to smooth out the bubbles, but no luck.

I definitely need to try again because I remember these wraps being one of my favourites so I might do a mixed wrap/real polish manicure next week in an effort to redeem myself, but for this manicure it was a complete fail on my part and I had to take them off right away.

Have a great day everyone and be sure to check out: Renee, Trysh and Eithne's blog and social media channels for their manicures!
