Never thought I'd be using cannabis in my hair, but here we are with the newest haircare collection from Marc Anthony featuring the nourishing properties of cannabis sativa oil! Obviously, this collection won't get you high, but you and your hair will feel pretttyy good by the end of all four products!
Nourishing Hemp Oil Shampoo and Conditioner*
The first thing to note about this shampoo and conditioner duo is that it is silicone-free! While I am a stickler for not having silicones in my skincare, I am fine with it in my haircare since hair is dead after the root anyway. I used to be very afraid of not using silicones because my hair has been bleached for so long that smoothness is really only achieved by coating all of my hair with silicones!
This duo is formulated with cannabis sativa seed oil and is for all hair types as it gently cleanses and adds a ton of moisture to dehydrated hair. There is also a strong fragrance to this duo, but it does not linger. Both products worked well for me with the shampoo making my scalp feel clean, but not stripped and the conditioner detangled and smoothed by hair out. If you hadn't told me anything about the lack of silicones, I would have thought this was full of them based on the texture of my hair! So, good for Marc Anthony!
Nourishing Hemp Oil Moisture Rescue Conditioning Treatment*
This is an ultra hydrating conditioner/mask to be used in place of regular conditioner. This has of course, cannabis sativa seed oil as well as aloe leaf juice, grape seed oil and hydrolyzed quinoa which I know is good for the skin and and I've learned more recently for the hair as well as it can repair damage to the hair shaft. This is a 3-7 minutes treatment which is the perfect amount of time for me to wait as I do other things like use body wash, shave and exfoliate my face and body. If it had been a 10 minute treatment, I don't think I would have waited. There is something about 10 minute hair masks that immediate turns me off let alone masks that "work best" at 20 minutes! I mean, I'm in the shower not a salon!
Nourishing Hemp Oil Instant Scalp Cooling Treatment*
What a great addition to a hair care collection! This little tool lets you ease the itching and discomfort of a dry scalp! That's me! This is applied directly to the scalp and whenever you want! This contains not only the hero ingredient of hemp oil, but also peppermint extract, aloe vera, tea tree oil and witch hazel! It is a super cooling, lightweight gel so it doesn't give you any product build-up at the roots. I love applying this to my scalp just before bed as part of my sleepytime routine, whenever my scalp is feeling dry or when I have a headache (far too often...).
Final verdict: Overall, this is a solid line when it comes to the goals of hydration. I would never have known there were no silicones in this line because the performance was on par with products I have used in the past WITH silicones. The conditioner and the conditioning treatment both left my hair super smooth and brushable which is always a good sign and still felt soft the next day after blow drying. I REALLY loved the addition of a complementary product like the scalp treatment especially because this is something that can be used outside of the shower.
