NAILS | Holo Ikat #CBBxManiMonday

Today's manicure was somewhat frustrating in that summer heat makes polishes pretty goopy and very rarely do I remove the base colour and redo manicures, but that's what I had to do with this Ikat design. Not only did I have some issues with creating the design, but the application of Holo Taco Lemon Sucker as well. Holo finishes can fix most of my nail polish grievances, but in this case I am really not sure when I will use this shade again other than for a photo prop.

We are keeping with our #CBBxManiMonday theme of "Summer Lingo" and because I wanted to make "Lemon Sucker" work for me, I thought that maybe the summery tribal look of the Ikat pattern would be a good option. Well, it would have worked if my striping polishes weren't so goopy! Though I have done the Ikat design before, I really struggled with getting the "hairy" look and the more I tried, the uglier it got so I forced myself to stop at what I have now. I removed one nail entirely and tried my best to redo it, but I wanted to go to bed so here you have it!

The shade "Lemon Sucker" is not a bright yellow, but a darker more serious looking yellow. I have always found yellow shades hard to wear with my skintone and this shade was no exception. I did not find this very flattering on me as I felt like my skintone was too in between, but perhaps a tan would help. Application was goopy which I expected due to the heat and the way the other two Holo Taco polishes applied, but what I found puzzling were the small round balls that kept coming out with the brush. It was very weird.

Though this manicure didn't quite turn out like I had hoped, "Lemon Sucker" is definitely an interesting holo polish and very unique. The collector in me will hang onto this even though it was a bit a bumpy ride, but I have seen this shade look fantastic on other skintones!

Have a great Monday everyone and be sure to check out Renee and Trysh's blog and social media channels for their "summer lingo" manicures!
