Nailed Kit | Review and Pastel Galaxy Space Nail Art

You all know that I am a HUGE fan of nail decals to jazz up any manicure, not to mention that they are oddly kind of fun to use even at my current ripe old age of 30! I have been eyeing the Nailed Kit Waterslide Nail Decals ($8.00) for eons because of their fun, whimsical patterns that are specially designed by a select group of artists, and apparent ease of use. Let’s see how I did with them, shall we?

Each set comes with a sheet of 24 waterslide decals.

Nailed Kit also has a brand new monthly subscription club that entitles you to two of the newest waterslide decals for $10 (plus $5 shipping to Canada) and if Nailed Kit’s existing decals are any indication, all future decals are just going to get even more cute and awesome! The monthly subscription club only saves us Canadians $1, but if you’re an American I think it’s a great idea as you save $6! For Canadians, it might make more sense to mass order all at once as there is $5 flat rate international shipping.

I started by creating a “galaxy base” that I thought would allow the decals to show up, so I didn’t want anything too dark. I started off with a base colour of Trust Fund Beauty – They’re Just Jealous, followed by random sponging of Sally Hansen XTremeWear – Bubblegum Pink and White On, China Glaze – Kinetic Candy and topped it off with my favourite glitter, China Glaze – Fairy Dust.

I found the decals quite easy to use. The instructions were straightforward and I just followed them and made adjustments based on my past experience with water decals. The MAIN difference between the Nailed Kit decals and other ones I have used is that the entire sheet is essentially a water decal so you have to cut out your decal AS CLOSE as possible to the actual design so that you don’t have excess clear bits hanging around.

Important tips:

  • When using these water decals, make water your best friend!
    • If you notice that as your positioning your decal, it starts to get wrinkly and bubble, either use tweezers and dunk the whole decal in water again or wet your finger to smooth out the bubbles
  • Follow up decal application with a quick blast of the hair dryer at low heat to “tighten” everything up which all leads to smooth and level water decal application!

Final Verdict: These decals are so cute and I know we all love Born Pretty water decals, but the designs offered through Nailed Kit are absolutely adorable! There are also full nail kits with polish appliques, studs and decals so if you need nail polish too, Nailed Kit has you covered! I love the packaging of the kits and is something I can picture myself giving as gifts (to others or myself!). They are a little bit more expensive than the Born Pretty decals, but the decal is quite resilient and I was able to poke and prod it without damaging it. They also DID NOT disintegrate when I applied top coat over them which has happened to me in the past. The designs and ease of use of the Nailed Kit decals are bound to get ANYONE excited about nail art!
