KBEAUTY | Mimiang Animal Mayu Wrinkle Mask #100DaysofSheetMasks

After these 100 days of sheet masking are over, I SWEAR you will start seeing me in some makeup! I promise! I'm sure most of you would believe me if I told you that I spend 24-7 of my day in a mask of some sort at this point and I almost want to try masking outside just to see if I would have the ladyballs to do it! When it comes to sheet mask reviews, I try to feature ones that are visually interesting or have something special going on. There are masks that are ho hum and perfectly fine, but wouldn't really be all that interesting to write about because they don't look like THIS ONE. When are you ever going to see me contemplating the wonders of the universe while looking like a zebra?

Korean beauty brand, Mimiang, is based on having fun with beauty products while making sure the ingredients are safe. I would not consider this company to be like the clean beauty companies we are familiar with in North America, but the essence ingredients are a bit more thought out and targeted for the purposes of "anti-aging". The brand has a couple of animal and skull print sheet masks and I hadn't heard of it until seeing a box of these Animal Mayu Wrinkle Masks on sale at Winners a few months ago. I was just at the beginning of my sheet mask mania and spent more than I probably should have that day!

This mask is made of 100% natural cotton fibers with no man-made materials and is a hydrating and moisturizing mask that has also been tested in boiling water for 72 hours with no leaching of harmful ingredients. The pigments used in these masks have been deemed skin safe by the Korean FDA with the essence and mask containing no parabens, benzophenone, mineral oil, added colour or triethanolamine. Click here for a closer look at the ingredients. While I appreciate the effort that has gone into making printed masks as effective as they can be, they are more for fun and if I see some worthwhile ingredients in the essence that's awesome, but it's not something I look for.

Since the pigments in the sheet mask are skin safe, they are not overly dark, but you can definitely make out the shape of a zebra (kind of?). Though I did have some bumpiness in the chin area, the overall fit of the mask was decent. The eyes and nose were comfortable and my forehead covered. I also liked the artsy look of the zebra!

Mask Summary:

Scent: Lightly floral
Duration: 15-20 minutes
Thickness: Thin
Mask Fit: Not great around chin, but wasn't as stiff as other printed masks.
Tackiness: Low
Hydration: Good!

Final verdict: This mask was surprisingly effective for the fun factor it provided. My skin was hydrated and there was very little tackiness left behind which is always a plus in my books. I got what I was expecting from this mask in terms of entertainment and I would definitely use this again when I need a laugh and some moisture!

While I picked up my masks from Winners, the Mimiang Animal masks are available at various Korean e-tailers.
