I am going to try my best to review the masks I used in my #100DaysofSheetMasks challenge by the end of this month, but with just 10 days left to go in November (WTF!) I am cuttin' it real close! In the last week of the challenge I was DYING to use my new Mediheal x BT21 Face Point Masks which I discovered on YesStyle.ca while hunting for mini masks after finding the ones from MaskerAide SO CUTE! If you are a BTS and/or Kpop fan you will know that the boyband BTS is basically ruling the world right now, even making their way a number of times onto the Ellen show! BT21 is the first collaboration of the Line Friends creators with eight characters all designed by BTS themselves. Six of the characters have their own mini mask in collaboration with Mediheal and though I was thisclose to buying all six, common sense kicked in and I bought the characters I thought were the cutest!
Purchased myself
The RJ Face Point Mask is all about soothing and calming the skin and contains tea tree and propolis extract. The tea tree leaf extract is just past the halfway mark of the ingredients list and the propolis third to last so I really don't think these ingredients are doing a whole lot for my skin, but are more like "nice to haves" for a fun mask like this one.
I find the back of all of these masks amusing because it's so obvious that the mini masks have been photoshopped onto the same model!
Apparently RJ is an alpaca, not a dog which I thought originally, and is kind and polite. He wears a parka because he's cold all the time and is at his cutest when he is mumbling. I love Asian character descriptions because they are so cute and odd sounding all at the same time.
The Koya Face Point Mask focuses on moisture reinforcement and glow and contains sea water and spiriluna extract to pump up moisture levels and give a dewy complexion. The sea water doesn't seem like it would be hydrating to skin as by the science of osmosis dictates that moisture would LEAVE the skin. Spirulina was almost last on the ingredients list with the preservative methylparaben being found in higher quantities!
As for the actual character, Koya is a koala bear who is considered the "Thinker" of the group and though he looks sleepy all the time with his slits for eyes, he is actually "deep in thought" and highly intelligent.
The Cooky Face Point Mask focuses on skin barrier reinforcement and radiance care and contains ceramides and hexapeptides to revive and refresh skin. Again, who knows how effective any of these ingredients are in this format and at the bottom of the ingredients list, but hey, I'm wearing a bunch of bunny masks. What do you expect?
Cooky was one of the cuter characters to wear because who wouldn't want to be a bunny with an edge? She apparently dreams of "being strong", but I think she looks like one "pretty tough cookie".
All of the mini masks were a fairly thin cotton and relatively easy to peel and separate from their sticker sheets (the mask edges are perforated as they come on a sheet similar to stickers from Sandylion days), but not as smooth as the MaskerAide mini masks that honestly peeled off like BUTTAH! They also all had a jelly like essence and LOTS of it so the trick really was to scrape as much as I could from the inside of the package FIRST and then apply the masks on top.
Mask Summary:
Scent: Floral
Duration: 5-10 minutes
Thickness: Thin
Mask Fit: N/A
Tackiness: Light
Essence Type: Jelly
Hydration: Surprisingly good!
Final verdict: These ridiculous masks weren't the best on ingredients and I doubt I will be turning to these again for awhile, but they actually were much more hydrating than I thought they would be! Though the masks had different goals, I didn't see or feel much of a difference between them so if I DID get more it would be to amuse myself and all of you because having a bunny, alpaca and koala on my face was something I never thought I would ever do publicly, but here we are with this blog post and face all over it #Thisis35
You can find the Mediheal x BT21 Face Point Masks at various Korean e-tailers.
