Whenever I hear the phrase "strengthen the skin barrier", I always think of ceramides. I always visualize these deliciously plumpy pillows of fatty protection that undo whatever damage environmental aggressors have done to my skin. Ceramides also provide hydration and are always a treat when I see them in a product ingredient list!

The Dr. Jart Ceramidin collection is a truly nourishing one that I will be sharing in the months to come, but for now, we will start with the Facial Barrier Mask! This post is the first instalment of my Summer of Sheet Masks series and I couldn't think of a more iconic brand to launch it! During my beauty cleanup the last 2 months, I have had to go through many products fairly methodically including my crazy sheet mask collection. I have so many COOL masks that I decided I needed to focus on sharing the exceptional ones with you all TWICE a week instead of just once on Sundays!
This Ceramidin sheet mask is made of biodegradeable bamboo with an essence containing a proprietary Ceramide Complex (there are ceramides in the first half off the ingredients list as well as after) and something called Ectoin which is a great emollient as it works as something called an "osmolyte" to maintain skin's water balance. It also is believed to be have antioxidant activity (Incidecoder, June 2022)
The fit for this mask was quite good and the creamy essence really made this sheet mask feel like a cushion I was placing on my skin!
Mask Summary:
Price: $12 CDN
Skin concerns: Dryness, weak skin barrier
Scent: Fruity with a bit of herbal
Essence Type: Creamy
Duration: 20 minutes (I had this on for about 30 minutes as there was a ton of essence and the mask was quite moist)
Thickness: Thin
Mask Fit: Very good! It was very moist which helped with adherence!
Tackiness: Light
Hydration: Very good!
Other notes: Skin feels so nourished afterwards!
Final verdict: It's a good thing I have one that I purchased because this is a NICE mask. It's on the more luxe side in terms of price, but OMG did my skin feel so nice after removal! It's soothing, hydrating and made my skin feel renewed. This is definitely a mask to use if your skin feels "confused" or needs to reset in terms of moisture.
