Montagne Jeunesse Masque Challenge | Week 1: Melted Hot Chocolate Pore Cleansing Sauna Masque

Welcome to the Canadian Beauty Bloggers Montagne Jeunesse Masque Challenge!

For the next couple of weeks, the folks at FarleyCo Beauty have provided us with masks from a variety of categories which we will test masks to see which one will emerge victorious in the ultimate CBB Mask Off! For this first week, the first mask in the hot seat is the Melted Hot Chocolate Pore Cleansing Sauna Masque ($1.99). This mask also fits right into my countdown to Earth Day as “all Montagne Jeunesse products are Vegetarian Society approved, Not Tested on Animals and Cruelty Free (BUAV Approved)”!

Take a deep breath of our self – warming Chocolate Orange masque and you'll be in chocolate heaven! Mediterranean Clay cleanses dirt and oils from deep within pores. Rich dark chocolate and orange oil leave skin feeling soft and refreshed.

This mask is for combination/oily to normal skin. I have dry skin, but not sensitive skin so I made sure to moisturize right away. It also smells INSANELY good! It feels and smells like you are scooping a melted Terry’s Chocolate Orange onto your face. Life doesn’t get any better than that, I tell ya!

I love self-heating masks and although it can feel a little bit strange at first, the “heat” does die down. I left the mask on for about 20 minutes while having a bath with the Baylis & Harding Bath Foam and wiped the mask off with a cloth. I tried just water at first, but it was just too much of a chocolate mess! My husband was like,”What happened in here??”

Comfort: 5/5 - I loved the self-heating sensation and how smooth the consistency of the mask was. It was light and didn’t feel uncomfortable on my face.

Aroma: 5/5 – I LOVE orange chocolate anything so this was pretty easy for me to answer, but what really got me was how genuinely real it smelled thanks to the presence of cocoa powder and seed butter.

Results: 4/5 – My skin did feel quite purified and clear after use albeit dry. I made sure to moisturize right away and my skin was happy. This mask has Mediterranean clay in it which can be drying on dry/sensitive skin.

Ease of Use: 4/5 - Applying was very easy and smooth, but removal was a little messy. Washcloth definitely required because using just water can make your bathroom sink look like a disaster zone!

Total Score for Hot Chocolate Masque: 18/20
