I was a bit of a busy bee last Wednesday as there were multiple events happening in addition to a work training session I had that morning. I find it so hard to plan for 9am – 9pm so I made sure to bring an extra pair of comfy shoes, some granola bars and an umbrella because guess what? It was raining HARD in VanCity that day! After work and lunch with my hubby, I headed on over to Holt Renfrew for the La Prairie “Meet the Experts” Event with Director of Education, Becky Watkins, and her team. Here, I learned all about the story behind La Prairie skincare as I wasn’t too familiar with the science behind the products. I was also treated to a full one hour consult with Becky who took the time to find out more about me and my skin and designed a full skincare regime that we were able to try right on my face.
I was provided some lovely treats by Holt Renfrew which I never even got a chance to eat because I was so full from lunch! La Prairie is certainly a LUXE skincare line when it comes to pricing and packaging. Their story is a mix of science, ingredients from the Swiss Alps and working to create some of the most effective skincare products on the market.
I didn’t have any immediate skincare concerns and really just wanted products that were more preventative in nature in terms of keeping fine lines at bay and reducing the amount of hyperpigmentation on my skin. The line that was recommended to me was the Cellular Swiss Ice Crystal Collection that targets the first signs of aging, dullness and fatigued skin. I fell in love with the Dry Oil right away and when mixed with the Cream, my skin felt amazing! Apparently, a lot of men love the Dry Oil too because it sinks into the skin in just a few minutes and is zero fuss.
My skincare regiment card complete with all of the La Prairie products with pricing ranging from $200-$1000. Not for the faint of heart, for sure! The Dry Oil I love so much was $300 the last time I checked! After telling Becky that I was off to Sephora on Robson to get a makeover, she offered to do my skin prep for me with the La Prairie products I loved! A few minutes later, some goodies and a hug goodbye, I set off in the rain to Sephora to take advantage of the unlimited complimentary full makeover service (normally $50)!
For those of you who have either visited or seen pictures of the Robson store opening, there is an upstairs beauty studio area for only VIB Rouge clients. I had been dying to go up to see what it was like and I am so glad I got the chance to do it! The seats were larger and more cushioned, but most importantly, there were no distractions. It was just me, Ena (my MUA) and Gerry from The Bunnie Hole, for photography and moral support!
I decided to go for a smoky eyed Marsala-inspired look which I really loved! Ena did a wonderful job with my eye makeup and taught me a ton of tips and tricks. I loved that she explained everything she was doing and why she chose the products she did. I was pretty flexible with what products to use with the exception of making her use the Georgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation that I had been wanting to try out for some time.
The final look! I love how Ena did my eyebrows and blush too! And now off to the Saje Wellness event just a few doors down!
I hadn’t been to a Saje location since the rebranding, but I was very impressed with the layout of the store. Everything felt fresh and inviting and had a truly West Coast feel which makes sense as Saje is based in Vancouver.
The location is fairly small so things got cozy VERY quickly! Combined with the DJ, I felt like I was in a club, but was oddly relaxed because of all the essential oils running through the display of nebulizers! As a gift, we all got to pick our favourite nebulizer to take home!
After a long day, I was ready to head home and so was Gerry so we made a few quick purchases as everything in the store was 30% off for just that night, said our goodbyes and headed back out into the rain. I had an amazing time at the Saje event as I am a proud user of Saje’s essential oils and was so excited to see the new branding and products live. I cannot wait to share reviews of all the La Prairie and Saje products over the next few weeks!
Thank you to Becky, Ena and Saje for a fun-filled day!
