NAIL ART | NYFW with Tommy Hilfiger Stripes and New York Color

I almost never get nail art inspiration from fashion mainly because I’m not great at recreating patterns and because most of the fashions I like are almost always “boring” and “business chic”. For this months’ NYC Beauty Pro Challenge, I must have looked for days trying to think of a design to recreate that I hadn’t done before and would be cool to share with all of you. In the end, I settled on multi-coloured stripes ala Tommy Hilfiger. I even think the outfit is kind of cute!

I started out by painting my nails 2 coats of NYC Long Wearing Nail Enamel in Black Lace Creme* and waiting for it to FULLY dry before applying striping tape to create crisp lines. To create the glitter stripes, I carefully applied 2 coats of: NYC In a Minute in Sea of Diamonds*, Fashion Queen* and Ruby Slippers*. I wished Sea of Diamonds and Ruby Slippers had been more opaque because the pattern looks almost washed out due to the lack of opacity.

The lines were far more crisp in person, but was INCREDIBLY hard to capture on camera. I guess this is why it’s always a good idea to swatch the polishes you plan on using FIRST as this is not even the first time I have been burned by a glitter. I sealed the whole design in with NYC Grand Central Station* which I totally thought was a top coat, but it just turns out that it’s clear nail polish! Whoops!
