I do apologize if some of you are sick of seeing sheet mask after sheet mask. I don't know if some of you have noticed, but I try my best to never talk about the same beauty category back to back unless there is something reeeeeallly special going on and until now, I think I have only done two back to back sheet mask posts once or twice, but it's getting down to the wire and the end of 2018 and I still have so much good stuff to share! Oh, and if you haven't noticed, the amount of holiday material on Cosmetic Proof this year will be fairly minimal because I'm just TIRED. The day job and playing catch up this year has been exhausting. What you WILL be seeing here is stuff I am truly, madly, deeply loving and feel is worth having 5 hours sleep to write about starting with tomatoes on my face!
Purchased by me
I feel like I should have mixed the Kocostar Cucumber Mask with this Tomato Sliced Mask and made a salad! This mask focuses on boosting radiance while hydrating the skin and despite how silly these single masks look, I had a good experience with the cucumber slices so I had a good feeling about the tomatoes.
The tomato extract is actually the fifth ingredient on the list which I was not expecting, but does it actually DO anything for the skin? We have heard about the benefits of lycopene (a red phytopigment in tomato skin) when it comes to oral consumption, but what about when applied topically? Well, the results are very mixed, BUT tomato extract has shown itself to be an antioxidant with protective potential even against skin cancer (Agrawal et al, December 2018) so that was kind of cool!
Just like with the cucumber mask, the piece I applied on the chin dried out the fastest with the other pieces cutting it realll close to drying out close to the 15 minute mark. I was a bit disappointed that the tomato print looked a bit blurry, but upon closer inspection you could sort of make out what they were.
Mask Summary:
Scent: Fresh
Duration: 15-20 minutes
Thickness: Thin
Mask Fit: N/A because they are mini masks!
Tackiness: None
Hydration: Good, but skin not quite as soft as with cucumber slices
Final verdict: Compared to the cucumber slice mask, this mask did not leave my skin quite as soft feeling and I do not recall my radiance levels being higher than they were, but I also have to take into account that with the 100 days of masking, my skin was continuously pushed to its peak so if you don't sheet mask very often, this mask might have more of an impact on your skin. I would not repurchase this mask again as both the MaskerAide and Cucumber Slice mini masks performed better with my skin.
I purchased my Kocostar Tomato Sliced Mask at Anthropologie.
