SHEET MASK | Dr. Althea Premium Squalane and Conditioning Silk Masks

This is going to sound crazy, but now that I've tried so many sheet masks (and will continue to try more in my lifetime until I am but a little Asian prune) it takes a lot to catch my eye. What caught my eye with these two Dr. Althea sheet masks was the fact that the packaging was metallic and...horizontal. I just thought it was interesting even though it's all just a matter of perspective, but I also had heard good things about Dr. Althea and had used one or two sheet masks through my FaceTory subscription and had a positive experience. I was also really curious about just HOW silky these masks would be and now I wish I could have my sheets made with this sheet mask!

Purchased by me

Both masks focus on hydration with the Squalane Silk Mask containing some of my favourite skincare ingredients - squalane, collagen and hyaluronic acid! While there are many skincare products that brag about these ingredients in their formulations, I am always SO HAPPY when I see these ingredients right at the top of the list which is the case with this sheet mask!

Mask Summary: Premium Squalane Silk Mask

Price: ~$25-26 CDN/5 pcs
Scent: Sweet floral - not overpowering at all and very pleasant!
Essence Type: Medium jelly texture
Duration: 20-30 minutes
Thickness: Thin
Mask Fit: Very good
Tackiness: Very very light and pleasant.
Hydration: Skin was very clear and bright right away! Skin tone was also very even looking and I didn't feel the need for a moisturizer. I just used an eye cream.
Other notes: The mask is indeed VERY silky and smooth! It is also very sturdy feeling which allowed me to pull up and adjust the mask without stretching it out.

This sheet mask still had a high concentration of hyaluronic acid, but focused more on soothing and calming with ingredients like witch hazel and ginseng. Again, these were all well in the top half of the ingredients list! There is a small amount of silicone in this one, but I didn't mind as it was in a very low concentration right at the end of the list.

Mask Summary: Premium Conditioning Silk Mask

Price: ~$25-26 CDN/5 pcs
Scent: Could not detect one
Essence Type: Medium jelly texture
Duration: 20-30 minutes
Thickness: Thin
Mask Fit: Very good
Tackiness: Very light
Hydration: Skin was very clear and bright right away! I again didn't feel the need for a moisturizer and only used an eye cream.
Other notes: The mask is indeed VERY silky and smooth! It is also very sturdy feeling which allowed me to pull up and adjust the mask without stretching it out. LOTS of essence when I pulled it out of the pack to the point where I had essence running over my lips as I was adjusting the mask.

Final verdict: Oh OHHHH! These masks are NICE. The sheet mask material was unlike any other I have tried and was indeed oh so smooth on the skin. You can see that the fit was also very good and I thought the ingredients lists were better than most sheet masks you will encounter. I mean, SQUALANE! Out of the two, I think I prefer the Premium Squalane more, mainly because of the ingredients and results, but I had great experiences with both. I am so glad I bought boxes of these because I will be wanting to use these again in the future!

I purchased mine at YesStyle.ca, but now that they have raised their shipping minimum, it might be better to shop local with www.seoulsundays.ca! They sell singles of this mask instead of a whole box so you can give them a try!
