Favourites | February 2014

February seemed almost too short to have a good number of favourites, but it’s strange how just a two or three days seems to make a difference! I was all about the Maybelline Color Elixirs last month (I keep wanting to spell “colour” the Canadian *ahem* right way) and picked up two extra colours on top of the first two that I had purchased. I will even have a review of them this week so stay tuned!

1. Real Techniques | Kabuki Blush and Bronzer Travel Brush

This is the coolest travel brush I have ever had because not only can I use it for blush and generally buffing, but it OPENS up so that I can contour my face as well! The base of the brush is held together magnetically and splits apart! The quality of the bristles is what we have all come to expect of the Real Techniques series!

2. Maybelline | Color Elixirs in Nude Illusion and Blush Essence

I always start with the most neutral colours and work my way up to the more risqué ones, but the texture and pigmentation of these glosses are divine! Very smooth, which means you will have to touch up a little bit more often, but well worth it. The more neutral colours don’t seem to have as much pigmentation to them, but the darker/brighter colours are VERY striking.

3. Kona Kare | Luxury Lip Butter Balm

I think I have almost finished this and I only got it at the beginning of February! If you haven’t heard of this company, it is run by the cutest husband and wife team from Ontario and are 100% natural lip butters that can be used as primers, conditioners and of course moisturizers! Some ingredient highlights include: almond butter (the very first ingredient!), mango seed butter, almond oil and coconut oil. These lip butters are soft, smooth, creamy, hydrating and smell SO SO good! The scents available are: unscented, Chocolate Peppermint (MMMMM!), Peaches and Dream and French Vanilla (MMMMM x 2!). You can get all four scents for just $20 right now on the website!

4. theBalm | Instain Blush in Argyle

I blame London Drugs for this one and their 30% off theBalm products sale. I picked up three blushes in total, but have been enjoying the natural flush of Argyle and of course its lasting stain. I would rank the wear as similar to the Tarte Amazonian Clay blushes.

5. Neal’s Yard Remedies | Bee Lovely Hand Cream

This was an item that I had specifically requested in my swap with Sian after seeing it on a British blog. I don’t why I have a soft spot for honey and saving the bees, but I do! According to Sian, this hand cream was pretty hard to find and is made with organic honey and blended with essential orange oils creating a unique citrus-honey scent.

6. Avon | Gel Finish 7 in 1 Nail Enamel in Barely There

Don’t even get me started on how much I love these polishes and how I must have every colour! These are so beautifully opaque and not needing a base or top coat? Avon, you are killing me! Barely There is a beauty of a neutral and one that I know I will be using over and over again!

7. Sally Hansen | Triple Shine Top Coat

I received this as part of a prize package from Nail Art Couture and have really been enjoying the dry time and the shine from this top coat. I also like the thickness of the brush so I need just 2 strokes to cover my nail.

8. Rainbow Honey | Cuticle Balm in Summer Juice

This just smells like a summer drink and keeps cuticles moisturized with avocado and coconut oil. I also love the fact that the stick is jumbo sized. I don’t know why, but I just find it amusing!

That’s it for another edition of favourites! I feel like because I was so late with January’s that February’s seems TOO SOON!
