MAKEUP LOOK | ARTDECO Mystical Forest Collection Review & Swatches

Even though it’s December, it’s technically still Fall according to the calendar so I cannot resist squeezing in one more Fall-inspired look! How I wish ARTDECO was in more Shoppers Drug Marts in my area so that I didn’t have to wait one whole year since posting my last ARTDECO look! My last review was for a summer look with the Miami Collection (here) so the Fall Mystical Forest Collection is going to look quite different! We’re doing more smoky eyes today, but with some Fall wine shades thrown in to give the look a bit more dimension. The full collection features earthy nudes, warm beiges, smoky greys and of course the characteristic dark berry shades of Fall all inspired by a misty autumn day in the woods.

The Soft Eye Liner Waterproof in #97 Anthracite* ($12 CDN) was super smooth and though it wasn’t as black as some might like, the softness allowed me to give my eyes a truly smoky look when smudged along the lash line. The Soft Lip Liner Waterproof in #79 Mystical Heart* ($12.00 CDN) did not tug at all on my lips and was quite creamy for a long-lasting lip liner. I was comfortably able to fill in my lips without having to hold the skin taut.

I LOVE this lip gloss. The Hydra Lip Booster in #46 Translucent Mountain Rose* ($18.00 CDN) is so smooth and I kid you not, the perfect shade of rose. For anyone! This looks wonderful alone and layered over lipstick and I cannot get enough of this shade!

The Blusher in #40 Crown Pink* ($14.00 CDN) is another perfect shade of rose that looked more pigmented on my skin than in the pan. I discovered this when I failed to test on my hand and went straight to my face! You can probably still see evidence of my happy go luckiness in the photos!

Ah, now we come to the main event – the limited edition Beauty Box Quattro* ($14.00 CDN) that can house four of the six new eyeshadows released this season! The four shades I have had minimal fall out and though they weren’t the softest eyeshadows I’ve used, the pigmentation was great and I had no issues at all creating a look.

Final verdict:
In terms of colours, this collection had me at the eyeshadows especially the plum shade 89A. God, it’s gorgeous and didn’t make me look like I got punched in the face as some plum/wine shades can make you look. I found the collection cohesive and while I didn’t have the full collection, the pieces I had pulled together beautifully.
