Founded by Anita Sun and Mariella Scott, the Dermovia Lace Your Face Masks are made with Lacetek Technology which is a gauze-like, stretchy lace that allows skin to breathe while allowing for serum infusion. The cotton remains moist for long periods of time making them great for spa/at-home facial treatments and contours and compresses to soften the skin. The ear and chin straps then act to lift and tighten skin. The first mask I picked up was the Hydrating Rose Water Mask which is for all skin types and focuses on hydration and anti-aging.
Another interesting thing about these Dermovia masks is the fact that they can be used 2x! I had to re-read the packaging when I saw that because other than with dry sheet masks, I had never seen the word "reusable" on a sheet mask! All you need to do is rinse out the cotton because after all, it IS fabric, and place the mask back into the package to re-absorb all of the essence. Just make sure you place the package into a resealable plastic bag, place in the fridge and use within 48 hours. If the fridge is too cold for your skin, which when I did it first thing in the morning felt like a MASSIVE wake up call, steep the package in warm water.
Ingredients: Water, Propylene Glycol, Glycerin, Algin, Butylene Glycol, Chlorphenesin, Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil, Pentylene Glycol, Cucumis Sativus (Cucumber) Juice, Fomes Officinalis (Mushroom) Extract, Sodium Hyaluronate, Rosa Gallica Flower Extract, Hydroxyphenyl Propamidobenzoic Acid, Methylisothiazolinone, Iodopropynyl Butylcarbamate, Hydrolyzed Hyaluronic Acid, Sodium Benzoate, Phosphoric Acid, Collagen, Potassium Sorbate, Ascorbyl Palmitate, Rosa Damascena Flower Oil, Sodium Sulfite
The actual essence had a very faint rosewater scent and had ZERO tackiness. This actually surprised me a bit because there is SO MUCH ESSENCE in the package and the mask actually came out HEAVY with it. I feel like knowing I was going to reuse it, I should have "squeezed" some of the essence out of the mask because it was dripping down my neck the whole time I had it on!
Actual ingredient content is quite good in terms of hydrating ingredients like olive fruit oil, rose extract, collagen and different forms of hyaluronic acid. I feel like it's not generally not easy to make an essence that is stable in liquid form, can be absorbed into a cotton sheet AND able to infuse skin.
As for the fit, it was perfect and secure. The chin and ear strap was not painful to wear and the fabric itself was very stretchy and I think it really could fit any face size. The only awkward thing I can say is that when putting the straps around my ears, the straps are also soaking with essence so it does get into your hair a bit.
Final verdict: This mask was fantastic and I am so happy I picked up four at Cosmoprof! I feel like I should have gotten more, but hubby was frowning at me as is! The fit, the zero tackiness, the fun level and most importantly the baby soft feeling of my skin after 30 minutes was magnificent. Having said all of this, Dermovia is still not readily available in Canada, but Mariella said that hopefully one day it would be. For now, us Canadians will have to purchase through Nordstrom online, but I guarantee you, this will be the face mask that makes you feel like a million bucks!
