What I love about beauty blogging is discovering and having access to new and oftentimes relatively unheard of brands. Sometimes, I even fall in love with them and back in 2015, Bella Aura was one of them! It was the year of "clean and natural beauty", but there were not many luxury brands in this space at the time. Bella Aura was Canadian and the ingredients and formulations were (and still are!) elegant with all of it coming in some gorgeously chic, black bottles. As a skincare lover, even if I love a brand, I often have so much product to go through that it's hard to justify buying more which is why I have not written about Bella Aura for awhile. While I have kept my eye on the brand, I haven't had a chance to try any of their newer products, not for lack of wanting to, but more to keep my consumerism to a "buy only if needed" level! We are showcasing two new-to-me products today that feature a VERY cool antibacterial ingredient - microsilver powder!

Rapid Repair Clarifying Elixir
Bella Aura Rapid Repair Clarifying Elixir

Firstly, Bella Aura has updated their packaging since the last time I talked about them and talk about Instagram-worthy shelfie packaging! The products are still housed in black glass bottles, but the logo has changed a little bit. The first product we have is a multi-tasking elixir that benefits acne-prone, irritated and inflamed skin. It is a skin-soothing tonic that works to protect, rebalance and restore skin using micro silver, Norwegian spruce (antioxidants), balloon vine (relieves itchy skin) and a host of antioxidants.

This has one of the most interesting appearances and textures I have ever seen in a serum/elixir type product! It literally looks smooth liquid clay and you almost expect it to feel thick and coat your skin, but it has the LIGHTEST texture that just absorbs right into the skin! The finish isn't the slightest bit tacky and is the perfect layering product whether it'd be a sheet mask, another serum or a face oil.

I wanted to notice a huge difference in my skin while using this product the last 5 weeks and while I did not break out (I rarely do), I had hoped to see perhaps an improvement in my skin's texture. I chose not to use any physical or chemical exfoliators while using this serum to see if it helped with texture and whiteheads, but it didn't which was disappointing. The only thing I found it helpful with was that my skin felt pretty hydrated with just the elixir alone and had a velvety smooth texture after using it. Reading reviews for this serum, it seemed to be better for those with hormonal breakouts and/or acne which is not my skin at all. I just loved the texture of this elixir SO MUCH that I had high hopes for it and while I will continue to use it because I do feel pretty fancy using it, I think this sadly just isn't for me.

Now, this mask and I got along VERY well! This mask is best paired with the Rapid Repair Clarifying Elixir and is an overnight restorative treatment powered again by Micro-silver particles, Norwegian Spruce and Maclura cochinchinensis (anti-inflammatory and acne-preventing). This mask can be used 2-3x/week.

The nights I wore this mask, I woke up with brighter skin! Whether this was because it was working synergistically with the Elixir I do not know as I haven't tried this mask without the Elixir. I am going to start using it with various other serums in the weeks to come as I do like the moisturizer like consistency of the mask.

Final verdict: I reeealllly wanted to find a holy grail product with this Bella Aura duo, but I think these just aren't the right products for my skin type. While they were perfectly nice, I do not believe I benefitted as much from them as others with acne-prone skin. The formulations were lovely and the experience itself was every bit as satisfying and luxurious as I would have expected from a luxury brand like Bella Aura, so I still hold the brand in high regard, but I will just have to wait to try another product of theirs that suits my skin a bit more.
