I think most of us are familiar with Fresh because of one product – the Sugar Tinted Lip Treatment. Coming in so many tints, these have been the ONLY tinted lip balm that I have used that actually give decent colour. It’s not just a MLBB tint, but a true display of colour that actually feels like a lip balm. The newest addition to the lip treatment family is the Sugar Ruby Tinted Lip Treatment ($26 CDN) that is the first lip treatment containing mineral pearl particles for an iridescent finish that is pretty perfect for those upcoming holiday parties (too soon!).
Sugar Ruby is enriched with sugar and the same hydrating oils and anti-aging vitamins as the rest of the Sugar Lip Treatment collection and also has SPF 15 to keep lips protected.
I found that in the swatch on my arm, I couldn’t really see the multifaceted shimmer, but on the lips it came out much more.
Final Verdict: Like the other Sugar Lip Treatments, Sugar Ruby is very buildable and can be layered with other lip treatments depending on how you would like to wear the colour. I do prefer the non-shimmer treatments slightly more, but thankfully Sugar Ruby isn’t gritty in texture which shimmer can cause. The wear time is also quite long and I was able to go about 4 hours before feeling the urge to reapply which for a lip balm type product is pretty awesome in my books! Sugar Ruby is a completely wearable colour for anyone and I am pleased to see something new in the collection for the holidays with a little bit of sparkle!
