If you have been with me awhile, you will know that about five years ago, I used to work for Tata Harper. In fact, I was the first Canadian-based employee when the brand first launched in Sephora Canada! I took a year off to explore the world of beauty and skincare and even though it didn't quite work out, I look back on my days with the Tata team fondly and still buy her products because they are among what I call my "ground zero" products. These are the products that reset my skin when I can't quite figure out what's going on with it. I have reviewed a number of Tata Harper products over the years both through gratis (given to me while I was an employee) and purchased on my own and though there are certain products that do not agree with my skin or just don't do enough for the luxurious price tag, there are a few heroes that I have consistently repurchased and these masks are some my all-time favourites!
Purifying Mask was PR gifted
What I like about all of Tata's products is that although there are a lot of soothing ingredients in her formulations, the products are still effective. All products are mostly vegan with a few being vegetarian if there is honey or beeswax present as well as certified ECOCERT for each product.
One thing that I don't think I have mentioned in my previous reviews is that each product contains what is termed the "Estate Grown Beauty Complex" which became "EGBC"in trainings. This is a blend of arnica, borage, calendula, alfalfa, meadowsweet and elderberry that is grown and farmed on the Tata Harper farm in Vermont. I even got the chance to see them farm and dry each of these ingredients so I know it's real! This blend ensures that every product still has a "baseline" of skincare efficacy while complimenting the main purpose of a specific product.
Resurfacing Mask
When the brand first launched in Canada, there was one mask and it was THE mask. I have reviewed the Resurfacing Mask before and it was a bit of a showstopper. You all know that I am brutally honest when it comes to efficacy and ingredients so when I realized this had fantastic ingredients AND was effective, I was hooked. I would demo this product all the time on people's hands, have a 10 minute chat about skincare and then when we would remove the mask, the brightening effect was immediate as this is a mask that uses both AHA (pomegranate enzymes) and BHA (from willow bark extract). As you can see from the photo, this jar is bigger than the classic 30mL size and that's because both my husband and I have used this mask so much that we have gone through THREE of them so it made sense to go for the big boy size of 105mL during last year's VIB Rouge sale!
This mask can be used as a 10-20 min mask, spot treatment, sleeping mask (dries down non-tacky) and always improved my skin after use. I see that my skin is bright and less textured right away and it has even "deflated" a near-surface breakout from the time I get up in the morning to 25 minutes later when I need to leave for work. You can even cocktail the mask with the Regenerating Cleanser to create a "super mask" if you feel like your skin is in need of major decongestion! This jelly mask is both hydrating and detoxifying and something I could never give up! It's expensive, but oh my is it effective! Now, I have not tried the Clarifying Mask yet as this is one of the newer masks, but I have a sample and will update if I need to!
Purifying Mask*
This is still the only mainly clay-based mask in the Tata Harper product lineup and is up there as one of the easiest clay masks to apply and wash off. You don't need a thick layer and the clay is soft enough to apply with a brush. Though this mask is detoxifying and almost a little spicy smelling (think cloves and cinnamon), it is still gentle enough to use 2-3 days in a row if your skin is feeling very congested. Like that time the air was filled with smoke from the wildfires. My skin felt gross everyday! If you have the Purifying Cleanser, this is a nice powerhouse detox duo, but not necessary to see the effects of the mask. Finish off by rinsing everything off with cold water to give pores an extra "kick and shrink"!
Hydrating Floral Mask
I received a sample about a year ago from Green & Pure when I was in Richmond shopping at Aberdeen Tower and really enjoyed it! This is an incredibly hydrating light gel mask that smells like a thousand roses and feels almost a bit like an oil when you apply it to the skin, but oh is it ever a silky experience! It just glides on with such little effort and though 20 minutes is recommended, I leave it on for 30-40 min while I'm in the tub. This mask has two different sizes of hyaluronic acid molecules (oh YES) which means that some moisture will be for the top layers of the epidermis while the smaller molecules are for the deeper layers for truly lasting hydration and a dewy glow! If your skin is really parched, this can also replace your nightly moisturizer, but I haven't tried this yet as the mask does not dry down and I don't want to muck up my pillow.
Anything Tata Harper is a bit of a splurge which is why I tend to stock up during the Sephora sale. I know masks are a dime a dozen nowadays, but the one I always tell people to try is the Resurfacing Mask (maybe the Clarifying Mask based on how the sample works out)! What are you favourites masks?
