If you watched Squid Game over the Halloween season, the word "Jeju" might mean something different to you even though Jeju Island in South Korea has long been a hot spot for tourism and skincare ingredients! It has a volcanic landscape with ample flora and fauna and mineral-rich soil that has resulted in many wonderful Korean beauty products. In Squid Game, Player 067 says to Player 240 that should she win, her dream would be to buy a house for her brother and her to live in, rescue their mother from North Korea and visit Jeju Island. Obviously, this is all very sad as Player 067 was not able to live out her dream, but ever since watching this disturbing series, when I see Jeju Island I think of this scene.
I received this mask back in the summer as it is intended to be used either at room temperature or chilled as the aloe-infused cream essence feels extra refreshing when cold. This probably would have been nice during our "heat dome", but then again I was so hot that I was practically immobile so I may not have had the motivation to even open up the package!
What makes this mask even more unique is that it has a cream essence infused with aloe extract from Jeju Island. A cream essence is always quite moisturizing and the other bonus is that there is no drippage!
Mask Summary:
Price: $6 CDN
Skin concerns: Redness, soothing
Scent: Very fresh - like a cucumber
Essence Type: Thick cream
Duration: It says 10 minutes, but that's such a waste! 20 minutes is what I did and though the mask did get a bit dry, I still had plenty of essence on my face.
Thickness: Medium
Mask Fit: OK. The two pieces held on, but there was not a ton of essence. There were also a ton of wrinkles throughout the mask that I could not smooth out.
Tackiness: None, but it takes about 2 hours for the tackiness to disappear.
Hydration: Very nice! My skin felt super smooth and almost creamy!
Other notes: Very similar to the Sulwhasoo Concentrated Ginseng Creamy Mask, but with far less cream.
Final verdict: Firstly, I definitely enjoyed the cream essence of this mask and the way my skin felt afterwards! Though I wish the fit was a bit better, the mask held on to my face and I didn't experience the dreaded chin goatee. I also feel like the mask is a bit too expensive at $6 and might be more attractive to me at $4 since it wasn't a perfect fit for my face. Still, this was a very good mask and I would use it again or purchase should there be a promotion!
