Earlier this week, I raved about the newly revamped Hudson’s Bay set to open tomorrow, but for those of you that haven’t been to The Bay in awhile, you are in for an awakening! The Bay isn’t just your grandmother’s one-stop department shop anymore. The beauty division alone is no longer about a counter between you and your beauty advisor. Instead, each brand has its own boutique and personality featuring elements unique to Richmond Centre. The idea is to give shoppers the same experience shopping at the Dior boutique at The Bay as they would in Paris. All the structural elements are identical and there are now even product exclusives, such as Dior Prestige, that are exclusive to The Bay in Richmond Centre! I live almost an hour away, but with all of these exclusives, I may just have to plan a few shopping trips to Richmond!
You all caught a glimpse of the new shu uemura counter when I had a makeover done by Taca Ozawa (event coverage here). Seeing the counter again still made me stop and stare!
Here is something I did not know: there are now treatment rooms at The Bay! Three in total for clients to truly experience the skincare they are purchasing. I love this idea because if I am about to spend $100 on a moisturizer from Lancome, I would like to experience HOW to use it as well as how it feels on my face before purchasing. It saves everyone the hassle of a return and you receive the expertise of a skincare expert on how to use the product. It does not cost anything to use these treatment rooms and if anything, someone like me would probably spend much more after such an experience!
I love that in keeping with the boutique-feel of this new concept, Kiehl’s has their signature hardwood floors.
Dior Prestige. Having this at The Bay is a big deal because it is one of just two locations that carries it. There is a HUGE Asian market in Richmond and they have been asking for Dior Prestige. The line is the definition of luxe with the Revitalizing Nectar priced at $380 CDN, Revitalizing Satin Eye Cream at $170 CDN and Revitalizing Satin Moisturizer at $350 CDN! I was fortunate enough to have a skin session with these products on my face and I will admit that they all felt VERY nice on my face.
So, Shiseido just popped up on my radar! The Shiseido boutique you see above is just one of 10 in THE WORLD. It has its own treatment room with on/off frosted glass where clients can truly experience the world of Shiseido skincare before making a purchase. Once finished, choose your makeup using a super cool Shiseido app that let’s you see what the colours look like on your face BEFORE application!
The Bay will be carrying BECCA Cosmetics!
The official re-opening is tomorrow, October 11th with the ribbon-cutting at 9:30am!
