HAIR | GLISS Hair Repair Color Guard with Keratin Technology

You have probably heard of the hair care brand Schwarzkopf, the brand behind got2b, Keratin Color and ULTIME. When it comes to drugstore brands, got2B is one of my favourite drugstore brands and when I saw a new line that used keratin technology to repair and restore colour-treated hair, my blue hair at the time cried with excitement.

Launched in Spring of this year, the Canadian GLISS lineup contains five hair repair formulas with different goals in mind. I immediately jumped to the Colour Guard ($9.99 CDN each) formula with its promise of protection using a UVA/UVB filter and providing up to 12 weeks of colour protection for coloured hair while keeping hair looking shiny. If you had been in the shower with me the first three times I washed my blue hair, it was a scary sight! After that, all I could think about was keeping all that colour IN MY HAIR instead of in my bathtub!

GIVEAWAY | Live Clean Fall Beauty (It's Alll the Good Stuff!)

This month has been so busy that I COMPLETELY forgot about my 6 year blog anniversary on October 1st! When I started blogging, it was seen as almost an embarrassing hobby, but now people seem genuinely interested and excited when I tell them all about this "successful hobby" as a friend so adequately put it. I know some get discouraged and jaded with blogging and the politics of PR and bloggers and believe me, I have some very strong opinions, but this will always be my Fortress of Solitude. While I am never extremely personal in my entries, I try to share a piece of normal life with you with every post and I often go back into my archives to see what was going in my life at certain points and reminisce. I like seeing what I enjoyed blogging about leading up to my wedding, when I was having a rough time at work or when I was just about to finish school.

How fitting that in addition to Cosmetic Proof turning 6 that Live Clean has decided to help me and a fellow reader celebrate the arrival of Fall with a Beauty Renew and Repair giveaway! Live Clean has had such a strong presence here because I enjoy their products and their philosophy and with the weather getting drier, my skin has been more itchy than usual after a shower (I love my hot showers that's why) and has been sucking up all body oils and moisturizers so hydration has been my best friend.

NAILS | Easy Halloween Nail Art #ManiMonday

Last week ran away from me just as I expected with the LD Beauty Event happening up at Whistler and a very very busy work week involving some long hours and more caffeine than I am used to. My system feels in need of some sort of detox or reboot as the last thing I want to happen is to get sick! I did not think I would have the time or energy to come up with a fresh ManiMonday let alone one for Halloween, but then a package from Beauty Big Bang showed up containing these fancy Halloween nail decals* which took all of 5 minutes to apply, but didn't end up looking quite as sharp as I had hoped after top coat was applied.

NAILS | Vampy Gradient Stripes

Yes, yes I know. I should be doing Halloween manicures now that we are halfway through the month and I promise you those are coming, but let's enjoy Fall for a little bit shall we? I have had this manicure sketched out in bullet journal since AUGUST, but as I can only manage two manicures a week this is the pace I seem to be at with work and all.

This is the first Fall collection I am diving into and it is the CND Vinylux Nightspell Collection which is very characteristically Fall with some shades and also has some chrome finishes which are trending this season. I am not a huge fan of chrome polishes because of the tendency for streakiness, but with certain shades I will make an exception!

EVENT | London Drugs 2017 Fall Beauty Event

I rarely do event posts because I never know if you guys are interested in reading about them, but this year's annual London Drugs Beauty Event was something totally different than from previous years as it was an overnight event taking place in beautiful Whistler! London Drugs very generously hosted all media at the Fairmont Chateau in Whistler with each of us having our own accommodations. For me this meant lounging in bed and watching Food Network! Though it was a bit of a challenge to attend the event, as it was in the middle of the week, I did a bit of soul-selling with my boss and even SHE thought this was something I needed to go to! I am going to apologize for the quality of the photos now with their different sizes (I had to crop out the hoardes of people passing by the products!) and horrific lighting! I promise the photos will be better when my reviews are ready!

NAILS | Metallic Nails with Interchangeable Magnetic Charms?! #ManiMonday

I am halfway through a very long week  (no, Thanksgiving isn't happening this year for me), but I am not missing a ManiMonday just yet! I didn't get a chance to do Thanksgiving-themed nails this year, but maybe next month I will think of something for American Thanksgiving! Maybe something with tryptophan?

MAKEUP | Divine Wine Avon "A" Box

I was pretty crazy about beauty subscription boxes a few years ago and I still look back at the beginnings of Glymm and Luxe Box with very fond memories, but once I started blogging more regularly, the amount of unused product from these beauty boxes was staggering and I was essentially paying every month only to give the product away! This won't be the case with the Avon A Box* as there is no subscription necessary and you get a preview of the items included so there aren't any unwelcomed surprises! Each box is $10 with any $40+ purchase and contains a mixture of full and deluxe sized items so no foil packets here!

MAKEUP | Revlon Mega Multiplier Mascara (Hmmm...)

T'is the year of mascaras and though I have mainly been using high end ones, drugstore mascaras don't seem all that different to me in terms of brushes and formulations. The Revlon Mega Multiplier Mascara* has been the talk of the town thanks to social campaigns from companies like Influencer and after reading some pretty terrible reviews, I think I am unfortunately going to have to add one of my own.

BEAUTY | Lip Smacker Lip Cafe Frappe and Coca Cola Cup Lip Balms

How many of you carried around a Lip Smacker or two growing up in the 90s? I was really into matching Puma and Nike tracksuits and always had a Vanilla Lip Smacker in my trackpants pocket. It got washed one time and even then my lip balm (and pants) survived! I went through so many Vanilla Lip Smackers and refused to buy any other flavour because they were all sealed in their packages and I didn't want to risk not liking a flavour because God know that it's just WASTEFUL to have more than ONE lip product on the go! Ha! If I could tell my 10 year old self what Jayne would be like in the future!

I phased out Lip Smackers around the end of my first year of university at UBC. I had had a rough year when it came to a bad relationship, family dramas and just going through an intense first year of science that seemed so difficult I felt like switching to Arts. I guess all of this made me grow up a little bit and leave my Lip Smacker days behind...

Though Lip Smackers are still around in their classic tube, some new ones have emerged and not only do they smell warm and fuzzy, but they have the CUUUTEST packaging!

NAILS | The Magic of Flakies #ManiMonday

I may have to apologize in advance for the brevity of this post as I am typing this up a bit late after two very long days of work. I am looking ahead at the next two weeks of October and though there are some pretty exciting things coming up for the month, it's also a busy one for both the blog and my actual job so things may get quiet here. I've never been one of those bloggers that could pump out a post for the sake of pumping out a post as this place is a journal of sorts for me and I don't like sounding forced.

Moving on to ManiMonday, I am feeling a little nostalgic with today's manicure because flakie polishes were really trending 3-4 years ago and though they are still super cool to look at, they have faded even from the indie polish scene. Flakies are kind of a cool form of nail art because they look like shards of iridescent shards of roughly cut glitter.

BEAUTY TOOLS | Real Techniques Miracle Diamond Sponge vs. Miracle Sculpting Sponge

Using a sponge has been the only thing that has made me unafraid to use foundation. When I see people using brushes, I am always in awe, but from watching YouTube and other makeup artists, using a brush is preferable to a sponge. I have been told it's something about how much more absorbent a sponge is leading to wasted foundation. It IS a sponge after all, but honestly I just love how much faster I am at applying my face in the mornings! I love the "bouncing" motion to deposit product and though I have loved the Beauty Blender over the years, Real Techniques has been the only other company that has made sponges that I find even remotely comparable to this pink beauty sponge conglomerate.

Over the last two months, I have been using both the Miracle Sculpting Sponge* ($10.49 CDN) and the VERY pretty Miracle Diamond Sponge ($12.99 CDN) from the Bold Metals Collection to see if one was better than the other even though their marketed purposes differ. The Sculpting Sponge is intended for contouring and highlighting, but rules are just guidelines right?

NAILS | Star Trek Sweaters

I haven't really discussed this in a long time, but I am a very big Star Trek fan. I have gone to a convention in Las Vegas and I own complete DVD collections of Next Generation and Voyager. I love the history of the Federation and watching the progression of the different NCCs (though my favourite will always be 1701-D). I have watched every Star Trek series (except for The Original, I just couldn't get onboard with Shatner) and now there is a NEW one to watch! Star Trek: Discovery made its television debut this past Sunday and though it feels more like the latest Star Trek movies, I have thoroughly enjoyed the first two episodes and look forward to more! We finally get to see the beginnings of the war between the Klingons and the Federation!

KOREAN BEAUTY | TONYMOLY Luminous Goddess Aura Aurolighter

Like most things that I order from eBay, sometimes things get lost and when I ordered this at the beginning of this year I was convinced I was not going to get a chance to see whether the TonyMoly Luminous Goddess Aura Aurolighter was truly a rainbow highlighter. Then one day, after filing my loss report with the seller, it just showed up after 3 months of being MIA completely intact!

NAILS | Saying Hello to Fall with Picture Polish's Forest #ManiMonday

Every month I look forward to seeing the new blogger collaborations with Aussie brand Picture Polish because they almost always have glitter and 99% of the time a little bit of holo. The shades are usually more on the adventurous side and aren't really about what's trending according to Allure and Pantone. There are a couple of really cool shades for September, but the one that jumped out to me the most was the shade Forest created in collaboration with nailgrammer Lacquertech

MAKEUP | MAKE UP FOR EVER Water Blend Face and Body Foundation ("You Took Some Time to Love, My Friend")

I never thought the day would come when I would have more than 50 foundations on the go. Then again, as I have gotten older I have started to lump foundation into skincare so just like I collect serums like potions in a video game raid, I hoard foundations for every mood and season. I have always had really good luck with MAKE UP FOR EVER foundations and most of their makeup in general, but when the Water Blend Face and Body Foundation* ($54.00 CDN) came out last year I wasn't quite as impressed as everyone else seemed to be. At least initially.

MAKEUP LOOK | Shu Uemura Tokyo Trends Cut Crease

I don't think I'm ever going to be the one with fierce and trendy makeup as I can still barely get my winged eyeliner game on. Working with the brand Shu Uemura has gotten me out of my box a bit more over the years in terms of trying more colour, but not many of us think of this brand when it comes to cutting edge or trendsetting, even though there are some crazy cool and work even on what little surface area an Asian eyelid allows! When it came time to try a cut crease, I was scared, but according to the folks at Shu, it was indeed possible with the proper tools.

NAILS | Mandatory Crayola Nail Art

It's obvious I love these Crayola x Sally Hansen Insta-Dri polishes isn't it? Crayola nails have been on my nail art bucket list and when this collaboration came out, it was time for me to finally do them! Using a Crayola design from Serena of Copycat Claws, this is what I came up with! If you don't follow Serena already, she is one of my most favourite CANADIAN nail art bloggers AND she is a scientist!

BATH & BODY | Avon Skin So Soft Oil-Infused Body Wash

For awhile I had this obsession with foaming hand soap. It was all I was buying because there is something just so incredibly satisfying about pressing down on a solid pump and hearing that glorious foaminess greet your palms. So now that I have romanticized foaming hand soaps, let's get into foaming BODY WASH! I know it's pretty much the same thing just bigger, but that doesn't take the fun out of it does it? In fact, since the bottles are bigger it's even better!

When it comes to bath and body, Avon has something for literally everyone and though I do receive a number of bath products from Avon, the Skin So Soft Oil-Infused Foaming Body Washes immediately caught my eye when they arrived. I shook 'em, pumped 'em and then had to shower with 'em!

NAILS | Back to School Nail Art #ManiMonday

Last week's ManiMonday was seriously science-y and although I've maybe done one or two back to school themed nails before, this will be my first time doing them while NOT a student anymore! I was in university for two separate degrees from 2001-2011 and by the end of it I was done. I was exhausted from going to school full-time and working 40 hours a week and my then-boyfriend and I had decided that getting engaged was only going to happen once I graduated so I REALLY  wanted to be finished!

The Sally Hansen x Crayola collaboration has been one of my favourites to date and all I want to do is keep these polishes out forever because not only is the packing incredibly cute, the formulas are fantastic! Almost every single shade is a one-coater! This collection has reminded me of why Sally Hansen polishes were the first polishes I ever purchased because for the price, you get consistently good formulas and brushes that make nail polishing easy, fun and approachable.

MAKEUP | Burberry Full Kisses Lipsticks with Lip Swatches

I'm really glad glossy is coming back because my lips have been so temperamental lately. I don't think I have ever mentioned this here, but whenever I get stressed, my lips get super swollen with tiny blisters and then flake like crazy for about a week. You can't even see anything, but my lips just feel very tight and uncomfortable. If anything, I have been asked if I have had lip injections whenever I have a flare up because my lips look so full! These flare-ups started when I got a big promotion at work in 2013 and then while I was prepping for my wedding. It went away while I was in the beauty industry and then came back when I started my current job two years ago. It is what it is so whenever I have a flare-up I go back to my glossy finish lipstick buddies to mask my dry patchy lips. My new friends go by the name of the Burberry Full Kisses* ($33.00 CDN) and they are a creamy full coverage, luminous finish lipstick lasting up to 8 hours!

NAILS | Pretty & Polished April Showers Swatch (It's a Thermal Polish!)

Whenever I wear an indie polish it really gives me a sense of nostalgia as this is when I first started getting interested in nail polish and while it is still a very large part of my life, I don't follow the indie game quite as closely now that my collection is in the thousands(!) and I've gotten more busy working with mainstream brands. This doesn't change the fact that I still have numerous indie untrieds to share with including Pretty & Polished April Showers that I picked up, I kid you not, 3-4 years ago! P&P did/does some great thermal polishes with many of the colour changes being extremely fun. April Showers is a bit more subtle, but has these wonderful bits of blue and white glitter that really make this a unique polish.

SKINCARE | Mediheal Line Friends E.G.T Timetox Ampoule Mask Review

Hey, hey, hey! It's sheet mask time again! A lot of the masks I try to feature here on Cosmetic Proof are predominantly for the fun factor because I love a good, honest mask selfie. Some sheet masks are for show while others may look boring, but are in actual fact highly effective. Today's sheet mask is a little bit of both and was a collaboration between well known Korean sheet mask brand Mediheal and Line Friends! Line is a mobile messaging app that I started using a couple of years ago and within the app are very expressive sticker emojis that eventually became a character line beloved by all.

BATH & BODY | Crystal Hills Organics - Crystal Infused Skincare!

Last month I had posted on my Instagram stories about a local new-to-me brand that I found interesting, but had a few questions about. Crystal Hills Organics is based in Kelowna, BC in the gorgeous Okanagan Valley (their Instagram will have you wishing you could work your 9-5 job there) with a goal of using the healing power of nature to soothe, cleanse and protect and enhance the body. Crystal Hills has their own organically certified farm for all the grapes, herbs and flowers used in their products and the soil is enriched so that only the freshest and highest quality ingredients are used. Not only was I happy to learn of this, but also that the founder, Andrea Barone Sazwan, has a background in Biological Science and Occupational Health and Safety. There are so many indie green brands popping up that I tend to gravitate towards the ones that have some scientific process or at the very least surround themselves with people who do.

NAILS | Nucleotide Skittles Version 2.0 #ManiMonday

I started bullet journaling last month and in trying to keep to themes and staying organized, I have chosen "Back to School" and "Science" as my themes for beauty! You guys know that I love drawing molecules on my nails and I am hoping this theme will keep me focused and allow that creativity to come back. There will still be new Fall polishes featured. but academia will take priority!

Some of you may have already seen in stores one of the cutest and most perfect nail polish collaborations - Sally Hansen and Crayola! I mean talk about one of the best pairings ever! These polishes are bright, happy and pigmented to the max like most Insta-Dri polishes and have been so much fun to play with! It only seemed appropriate to use these new polishes for an updated version of the DNA nucleotide base nails that I did more than FIVE years ago. I cringe at how my photos and nails were back then, but hey at least I'm growing up!

BEAUTY | New Shades of the Clarins Instant Light Lip Comfort Oils!

Oooh baby, I raved about these Clarins Instant Light Lip Comfort Oils two years ago (here) when they were first released and I am STILL going to rave about them now because in a world of mattes, these are like the oasis in the lipstick desert. These are pillowy, glossy and juicy goodness all with a delicious candy scent and now there are FOUR additional flavours to choose from!

SKINCARE | Yes To Cotton Collection

Say, what now? An actual skincare review since June?! I've said before that I absolutely adore skincare and if you saw my bathroom counter you would wonder how I even keep track of what I am using, but I have a system, I really do! At the beginning of summer, I started testing out the newest addition to the Yes To... family - Yes to Cotton! I had been a fan of the Yes to Cucumber and Grapefruit line when I first got into skincare so this was a great reminder for me of just how many good AND fun products Yes To had. With all of their products being at least 95% natural and of course paraben-free, this is a drugstore brand that can rival many green beauty brands.

Introduced to Shoppers Drug Mart in the Spring of this year, the Yes to Cotton collection includes: Comforting Facial Wipes, Comforting Facial Moisurizer and Comforting Micellar Water. From the Yes To website, I also see that two masks and eye makeup remover pads have also been added which I will have to hunt down because ladies and gents, I REALLY liked this collection!

BEAUTY | Givenchy Noir Interdit Mascara (Will This Work on My Baby Asian Lashes?)

I don't often review mascara because let's face it, although there are many pros to being Asian (Hello Kitty, magical math abilities and looking 15 years old until you're 60), as a people we just don't have much in the way of lashes. They are almost always thin, short and in most cases slope downward. No matter the mascara, it's hard to see a difference when you don't really have a good lash foundation to begin with!

I do like weird beauty things though. I like finding out if a product is truly innovative or if it's just gimmicky especially if it's a $38 mascara like the new Noir Interdit* from Givenchy! With a new 90° bendable brush for ultimate lift to give a complete lash extension effect, so let's see whether it works!

NAILS | Subtle Summer Holo #ManiMonday

I know, I know, it's not Monday anymore, but I guess because of the long weekend today is Monday for a lot of people. I actually have my weekend now so I'm feeling good, productive and also ready for the pedicure I have planned for later this afternoon. I haven't had a pedicure since June and although I won't let anyone touch my nails, I cannot be bothered to paint my toes. I enjoy the extra foot massage and for today's appointment, I added in 15 minutes of reflexology so looking forward to that!

I have posted a few times about the limited edition Cirque Colors Vice collection and after realizing that I hadn't used three of the shades, this holo taping manicure was born. Yes, I may have a slight obsession with using striping tape and YES, I have less lazy nail art planned for the month, but sometimes when it's all about the pretty colours like these ones, crazy nail art can be a bit distracting.

BATH & BODY | The New Zoella Beauty Jelly and Gelato Collection!

Zoe Sugg, better known as Zoella, is probably one of the few millennials on YouTube I actually like. Not to bash millennials, but some of the younger girls on YouTube can be a bit high energy for me/fake sounding which is just something I don't identify with. I feel like Zoella is intelligent, entertaining and the British accent definitely helps!

When Zoella came out with her first bath and body collection, I was enamored with the cuteness of it all and the fact that she admitted to buying her own bath fizzies on her video because she loved them so much and wanted them right away that day when she had run out! Whether that story is true or not, I would like to believe it is because her bath products really do smell fantastic in a playful, grown-up type of way. Having used Zoella's new Jelly & Gelato Collection for a couple of weeks now, I am now very tempted to pick up the additional pieces of the collection because I find myself looking forward to actually having a shower just to use these shower gels!

HAIR | I'm So Blue

I am an Aveda Vancouver Ambassador. All treatments are complimentary.

It feels like forever ago since I decided to colour my hair dark blue, but it has been another harrowing hair experience I can tell you that! Going this shade of blue has probably been the easiest to maintain out of the blonde, oilslick and blue/green. With blonde, I eventually looked brassy, oilslick was probably next easiest to maintain as my hair didn't look awful at the end of 8 weeks, blue/green was probably the worst as the green turned muddy even with colour protecting shampoos and treatments.

After much Instagramming and Pinteresting, my Hair God JT, from Civello Robson, and I decided that a darker blue would look great at the beginning and at the end of the summer and we were right! It's actually looking fairly tame now, but allow me to take you on my hair story starting with the very first day at the salon!

SKINCARE | The Face Shop Mask.Lab Anti-Aging Foil Face Mask

The dangers of working so close to a Face Shop location is this right here. The new Mask.Lab Anti-Aging Foil Face Mask ($4.00 CDN)! With a current promotion of Buy 7 masks, get 3 free, I dove in head first and bought three of each of the new Mask.Lab innovations with the foil mask being the first one I tried on!

NAILS | Purple Split Screen #ManiMonday

Wow, looking through my nail posts I do a lot of stuff with striping tape for two reasons: one, it makes me look like I've got my life together and two, it's such a quick and pretty way to put together a nail design! Today I am relishing in the CND Creative Play Sunset Bash collection and thinking of more ways to play with the shades in this collection because if you haven't seen swatches already, the shades are summer appropriate, but not neon bright. I actually find the collection quite sophisticated and wearable for any season.

MAKEUP | Dior Limited Edition Metalizer Metal Lip and Eye Creme Shadows

Fall has dropped and this is actually the first Fall item that I have decided to use because it seemed fitting for summer as well! Metallics are not going away and Dior is making sure of that with the limited edition release of the Dior Metalizers! Coming in seven ultra pigmented shades, these Metalizers can be worn on both the eyes and lips and have a creamy, long-wearing formula that will still metallic for as long as you need.

Too Cool for School Jelly Blusher Swatches Review

Everything in Korean beauty is just so cute that I have to restrain myself quite often when it comes to purchases. It's always the packaging the gets me and when it came to these Too Cool for School Jelly Blushers and their little plaid metal boxes, I just could not say no!

FRAGRANCE | Kat Von D Saint + Sinner Voxbox #TheResurrectionIsReal

I still have incredibly mixed feelings about Kat Von D. I really liked Sandra Bullock and while we have no idea what may have been going on with her and Jesse James, I can't help but think of that drama when I think of KVD. When it comes to her makeup brand and what she has done in the world of cosmetics, I have to say I am impressed. She was one of the first brands that I tried that had edgier shades of lipsticks and eyeshadows and I truly believe that KVD remains heavily involved with her brand despite how massive it has gotten.

While I have never been a die hard fan of KVD, her Tattoo Liner in Trooper is something I always use and have in my collection simply because it just IS one of the best liquid liners on the market. If this were ever discontinued, I would probably be just as crazed as the fans who 8 years ago were devastated when Saint and Sinner fragrances were discontinued. Both of these scents have been brought back to life this summer with the ONLY change being completely revamped gothic-inspired bottles.

NAILS | Neon Colourblocking #ManiMonday

Now, this was a manicure that I felt I could still see even with the lights out! Continuing on with the Cirque Vice Collection, I wanted to put all of these bright shades together somehow, but lemme tell ya that neon nail polish shades aren't the easiest to pair off with each other because each shade is as equally loud as the next! Taping seemed like a safe technique to try and although I wasn't too happy with the final results, people I ran into thought this was a fun little manicure for summer which led me to sharing it here with you!

BEAUTY | The Live Clean Summer Beauty Care Giveaway!

I am not quite done with summer yet and even though Fall is slowly making its way into my wardrobe and makeup, I find myself still reaching for sunscreen, products to enhance my tan and my ever-rotating collection of TKEES sandals. Even though my last hair review for Live Clean didn't quite work out, these summer beauty products have been pretty awesome.

NAILS | Black and White

I always feel like I need a pick me up in the middle of the week regardless of whether I'm working a "true week" of Monday to Friday or something more random. I think I am happiest when I am able to have two new manis a week since I tend to get bored quite quickly by Thursday and let's face it, there are too many polishes out there waiting for a home on my nails!

Today's is inspired by @flowidity108 again and is deceivingly simple looking. I have been dying to do a black and white manicure and this is the first of two designs that have been on my nail art bucket list!

BEAUTY TOOLS | Beauty Bigbang Unicorn Makeup Brush Set

Guess what? These brushes are made with REAL unicorn hair! Yeah, no. As much as we want "real" ingredients in our food and beauty products, I actually prefer synthetic bristles to actual brush hair just because I feel they are a bit lower maintenance in terms of cleaning them and keeping them free of bacteria. It also means that I can have brushes that look like THIS. This 7 piece Unicorn Makeup Brush Set* from Beauty Bigbang is the price of two tall caramel macchiattos and they are among the prettiest brushes I own. Almost immediately after I instagrammed storied these brushes, I made a place for them on my now VERY full makeup counter because these babies were getting used right away!

NAILS | Drippy, Trippy Neons #ManiMonday

I love summer brights, but I don't often wear neons because some can be fairly high maintenance when it comes to making them look good. I don't believe in wearing a white base to enhance a neon's intensity and a neon formula can be tricky with many applying unevenly. I didn't think I'd be wearing a neon this summer until the Cirque Colors Vice Collection*. Cirque is one of those indie polish brands that I treat like gold in my collection. Companies like Cirque inspire the mainstream brands and when Nail Polish Canada started carrying their polishes, my wallet breathed a sigh of relief that I no longer would have to worry about the 30% US exchange on my credit card!

SKINCARE | Nannette de Gaspe Face Youth Revealed Dry Sheet Mask

The packaging is what got me to pick up the Nannette de Gaspe Face Masque. I was in the skincare section of Holt Renfrew on my lunch break (NEVER a good idea) and saw what looked like pieces of art, but lo and behold it was a DRY SHEET MASK. The first I had ever seen! I raved about the Charlotte Tilbury Dry Sheet Mask a few months ago and was floored, BUT in actuality Nannette de Gaspe had come out last year. Both brands utilize the same dry sheet mask technology from Quebec-based lab Biomod, but of course I had to pick up this $145 luxury skincare item to see what the fuss was all about! What I will say is that at the time I got it, CT had not released her mask yet so this was the ONLY dry sheet mask I knew of! #justified

NAILS | Running 'Round in Circles

The quickest cheat to livening up any manicure is to use some form of a stud or sequin. They are fast and easy to apply and can last the length of your manicure if applied correctly and sealed in with top coat. You guys all know that Born Pretty is my jam when it comes to nail art supplies, but recently I was introduced to another Asian website BeautyBigBang that has fairly reasonable pricing, worldwide free shipping and similar product selection albeit on a smaller scale. They have those super cool mermaid brushes as well as a number of beauty gadgets that anyone would love (LED eyelashes!) I actually quite like the site as it is quite a bit cleaner and more smooth than a lot of these Asian shopping sites and was happy to shop and find some new goodies to add to my cart!

MAKEUP LOOK | mark. Havana Sol Collection "You CAN Pull Off Blue!"

I haven't posted nearly as many summer looks this season and I have to kick myself a lot of the time because there are some collections that I am definitely discovering far too late like the mark. Havana Sol Collection! Not only do the bath and body products smell like some of the best things I've smelled since fresh McDonald's fries, but the makeup collection is so perfect for getting you in the summer party mood! I, on the other hand, had to clean and get groceries while I was experimenting with the collection so the only people that got to enjoy this look were the meat and deli folks at Loblaws!

HAIR | Live Clean Biotin Extra Body Shampoo and Conditioner

This did not work for me. Normally, we all save our blogs to usually write about things we love and adore, but this is something that I tried so hard to love because why? It seemed to literally work for everyone else. I adore Live Clean products and their bath products fare better than their hair products for me because of how chemically processed my hair is. Now, that rainbow/unicorn hair is in I figure I can't possibly be the only one who struggles to keep my hair happy, can I?

Live Clean has some pretty awesome botanical-based haircare with the Live Clean Biotin Extra Body Shampoo and Conditioner* being released earlier this year. This is a restorative series made with biotin, ginseng and lavender (all three are near the top of the ingredients list!) to increase hair thickness, shine, volume and overall manageability. We all know how good biotin is for hair and nails and while ginseng and lavender restore moisture and give shine. Sounds PERFECT for what was at the time my green and blue hair, right?

NAILS | Flower, Flowers, Flowers #ManiMonday

I know I have done a fair number of flower manicures this summer, but it's sort of my cheat way of using multiple colours when I can't decide on just one or two shades which happens more often than you would think! Oftentimes, I just have handfuls of polish and I sit there and wish I had more fingers to wear them on!

Today's Mani Monday is with some new Avon Gel Finish polishes for Fall, but since I'm not ready to call it quits yet on summer, dotticure flowers with Fall colours seemed a fair compromise.

BEAUTY | Summer Beauty with Rexall #SummerProofBeauty

This is a long awaited weekend as we have been very short-staffed at work which means I have been banking some very long days. Thank God things will be somewhat back to normal next week, but I feel absolutely spent. Normally, I would have headed outside to beachier pastures, but because of the horrible wildfire situation in BC, air quality in Vancouver is currently WORSE than that of Beijing so my husband's asthma has been acting up and even my throat and eyes have been a bit irritated from the ash that has been in the air. So, instead of trudging out to the beach, I will have to settle for staying in and occasionally popping my head out, but that doesn't change what are some absolute essentials from Rexall for comfortably enjoying the rest of this (hopefully less hazy) summer!

BEAUTY TOOLS | The Brush Bar and Brush Board Review and Giveaway!

I hate cleaning my makeup brushes and I know I'm not alone in that. The thing is, once I get going, I love seeing the water go from cream/pink to clear and I love seeing my brushes go back to their creamy shade of white. Though I generally lay them flat to dry or leaning against a wall with the bristles encased in Brush Guards, the bristles usually need re-fluffing or they fall over. Enter a surprisingly useful set of beauty gadgets - the Brush Board and Brush Bar to stir things up in a good way!

NAILS | Sinful Colors #Pride Collection Taping Nail Art

In my last post, I'm sure you could feel my excitement for the new Sinful Colors Pride collection through your screens and today I am back to share more nail art and glittery goodness! The Pride Collection, in collaboration with international singer and songwriter Era Istrefi, has seven glitters and one creme polish. Today's focus is on the shade Frenzy* because this is an especially dense purple and blue microglitter that just looks really cool on its own. If you would like to see the other shades in this collection, check out my previous blog post (link).

SKINCARE | MaskerAide Tell Me 'Pout It Hydrating Lip Mask

I actually had to look up when I first started using MaskerAide masks and it was in 2012?! Five years feels like a lifetime ago and I'm happy to say that I still actively use MaskerAide sheet masks with my favourite one being the All Nighter for its peppermint scent! Over the years, MaskerAide has expanded their love of masks to hydrogel patches for the eyes (love these for traveling!) and now the lips! The Tell Me 'Pout It Hydrating Lip Mask* is the answer to getting the perfect pout for that ultra daring pigmented matte lippie you have been dying to try or just giving your lips the boost they need without going under the needle!

MAKEUP LOOK | Hard Candy Spring/Summer 2017

Hard Candy is so nostalgic for me and I am happy that they are still around because reading about them in the late 90s issues of Seventeen magazine was always a monthly highlight for teenage Jayne. I wasn't really allowed to wear makeup until I was 17 or 18 so being able to play freely with whatever the hell I want now makes me SO HAPPY. No more strict Asian parents asking you what's on your face and what the boys at your school will think! It's ok though, I may not have had makeup, but I had every Nintendo gaming system from 1988 until the Wii!
